XLR Input for a Microphone - No input clock

Sorry I missed that this was in the Axe II forum. The Axe II does not have XLR analog inputs. You'll need to either use an adapter to 1/4", or use an interface that has SPDIF or AES digital outputs.

Axe Fx II vs FM3 (Quantum 8 vs Cygnus X-3 Audio Comparison)

Axe Fx II vs FM3 (Quantum 8 vs Cygnus X-3 Audio Comparison)

Tougher to tell from a clip, but the difference in feel and the way it responds to pick attack or guitar volume changes is noticeably better in the III in person.

What guitar cable do you use?

Yeah, depends on what your going for. Many a hit has been played through cheap 60's coiled guitar cables. Some folks say they help to fatten up the thin sounding vintage single coil pickups.

Axe Fx II vs FM3 (Quantum 8 vs Cygnus X-3 Audio Comparison)

I've still got my Axe II XL. It still sounds great, but the III is noticeably better. Better dynamics, better detail and clarity, tighter low end, etc. The III is also easier to dial in compared to the II. I often had to tweak a few things in the II to sort of "shine up" my tones. In the...

    Room parameter

Room, chamber, and Ambience reverbs work well too. One trick I sometimes use is to set the reverb to 100% wet while I dial in the particular "room" sound I want sort of like a solo'd room mic. Then dial back the mix to taste to bring the sound more up front. Works great with headphones.

    FM9 & FC12 : Expression pedal on Pedal 1 on both devices ?

Axe FX III Into Headphones - How to tweak cab for best sound?

Wish Send/return blocks to get to next line

Ah, in my test I had them in the same row. Sure enough moving the return block to another row added the 16 samples. I stand corrected. That said, 16 samples = 0.00033 seconds. That's the equivalent of moving about 4 inches further from your speakers. I seriously doubt anyone can feel that.
  27. mr_fender

Wish Send/return blocks to get to next line

The send and return blocks do not add any additional latency. You can run them in parallel to a row of shunts and there is no phase cancelation between the two. Don't confuse CPU load with latency. The two are not the same.

Fractal XLR outputs are protected against phantom power. It won't cause any damage if it's left on. Do you have the OUT knob turned up? It also depends on the output level selected in the I/O menu. I believe it defaults to -10 dBV but can be changed to +4 dBu for a hotter output. Swap the...

It's possible, but you'd need to modify the layout a bit. In "Preset Mode" switch 9 (top right) becomes the Bank Up switch. If you sacrificed one of the preset select switches and used 4 instead of 5, you could move Bank Up to switch 5 and then make switch 9 tap tempo if you wanted. Another...

Phase issues when using "fx" loops (Out4/In4)

You have to either run the full signal through the HXFX like a series effect or run it 100% wet only. Blending any dry signal through the loop will cause phase issues. Instead of bypassing the HXFX when not in use, you'll have to either mute it or bypass the loop itself on the grid.

Phase issues when using "fx" loops (Out4/In4)

It's D/A and A/D Conversion latency from the loop. This is unavoidable in all digital gear. Wet/dry blends between analog and digital are difficult at best. Unless you can match the latency on all signal paths exactly, it's really only usable for delay based effects.

    Bug? Not a bug.

Yeah toggle does avoid the hold delay, but you have to do the double tap to get to some scenes, so it's a trade off. Using a scene layout with 8 switches is the most convenient, but then you have to use up a full layout. It's an amazingly flexible system, but there's always compromises.

Yep. Your pitch block is changing channels and going from Virtual Capo to Quad Chromatic. The latter uses more CPU. If you don't need the Quad Chromatic shifter in that scene, change the Pitch block back to channel C and the CPU will stay the same as Scene 2.
