Not either of those unfortunately. Especially not after wiping the whole thing and starting a new patch. But I also loaded a bank of patches back on and they were fine as far as thats concerned.

I just cleared all banks and loaded the clean system file to clear everything out. Started a preset with only the Friedman HBEC45 and the Recto new mix IR, switching to the Petrucci mix IR, and it still sounds bad.

Yea I always take that into account. But it seems consistent between all the videos I watched at least. I'm certainly not an expert at this stuff and I wish I understood exactly how IRs work better but doesn't it make sense that a speaker and whats going on in the room and with the cab reacts...

Well the examples I recorded were done by having my Axe connected to my iMac via a USB cable and nothing else. So there isn't exactly anything in the middle of the equation, like some sort of audio interface. Also I get the same feeling about my tone if I am running it to my powered monitor...

Ahh okay, that makes sense. I tried the bass cut which seems to alleviate some of it. But what would be the low cut in the amp block, just using the GEQ page and taking it down around 63, then turning the bass knob up? Or would a different way work better?

Thanks that worked! I'm liking this patch. It translates pretty pretty well for me. It does sound better when I record it and play it back on my m-audio monitors but my HD1221 is in the shop so all I have otherwise is an Alto monitor which isn't nearly as good. Still fun to play with though.

I downloaded the patch and I can't get any sound. When I bypass the cab block I get sound but I can't figure out whats going on with the cab block to make it not work. I unlinked it from global cabs but other than that I don't know.

Definitely wasn't there lol I was just naming some presets last night it was remembering how slightly annoying it is. This makes it even less annoying! :D

Stage Monitor Feedback

I usually just tell them I don't want myself through the stage monitors at all and just rely on my HD1221. It makes it easier for them, it doesn't create any feedback problems, and it usually is better than the monitors they have anyway.

I can understand you wanting to avoid a noise gate coming from using a tube set up but don't be afraid of it on the axe. It won't do a single thing to your tone. Theres basically already an input gate on every patch anyway, you just have to turn it up to make it work. Page over to IN/GTE and...

Did you not have an Axe before v9? Before scenes a lot of people did as you're describing and just used different presets. It's what I did with my GCP. You can get the same idea but it takes a tad more work to get spillover to work correctly and get the levels right but there won't be gapless...

I'd like to know that as well. Dropout is the only thing I dislike about scenes. It does everything I need need perfectly, but the main reason I started using them instead of patches is, among other reasons, gapless switching. Since it isn't always gapless, it makes it harder for me to call it...

Okay that works then. As I was reading I was thinking "damn, my xlr is 30ft" haha. But that all sounds great then. It's not a bad idea just to run 1 to FOH just to be safe anyway. That's what I'll start doing. Thanks for the help! I'm still curious about why fractal didn't put any xlrs for out2.

Okay I just tried all of what mule said and it did yield some great results for what I wanted. But as he said, theres not really a good way to get the repeats to stop. Even with bypassing it, it turns it off but is still going so when the delay is turned back on its still there. Another thing...

Muleskinner, I tried that but got stopped right at the beginning because I don't know how to tie the volume to a ADSR. I don't see anywhere that you can adjust mode, retrig, etc.

Thanks! I figured it was something like that but it was hard for me to notice it at first. There's a few other subtle differences between the two but those took car of the majority of the tone.
