You can always turn to drooling over Ed Sheeran's looping setup 'Chewie Monsta' (version 2 pictured) while you are at it. Custom built floor unit running Mobius hosted by Ableton. I think I read somewhere it has 8 separate I/O so each can be EQ'd at the desk.

With me just listening to your recording and not reading any other info, it just sounds to me like the output signal is too hot. Not sure how you are monitoring/recording this but that's my take. Where is your output 1 set at?

Midi footswitch recommendation for Axe-Fx II?

Its maybe a little bigger than you wan but the the KM Softstep 2 is my suggestion. You will need an accessory to allow it to connect via MIDI cable but its very portable. I keep mine above the Axe in a 2u rack when transporting! Pic of Softstep 1 and MFC just to show dimensions...

Can't get a decent sound with Axe FX II, Matrix and 1x12 EVM12L....

Generally a guitar 'amp head' refers to a pre-amp and a power amp together. Which sounds like what you are saying you currently use (solid state amp)? In this case the Axe-fx is the pre-amp, so if you want to then use a traditional passive guitar cabinet (unpowered) then you will need to...

Removing rack ears

Thanks for all the help on this, was worth me asking! I have some fly gigs coming up and I found a carry-on case that will fit the unit at like a 30 degree angle. Without the Rack ears it will make the fit much easier. Interesting to hear that the handles can be removed as well, I may avoid...

Hi Selta, thanks for the help on this. Just out of interest how do you generally run your gear, FRFR or Power amp to cab? Good suggestion, I might try a factory reset in a day or two as you have suggested if things don't change.

Just before I reply to the suggestions, I will say that I have had some success with the Depth switch. Default this was on 0, putting it on about 4-5 has definitely improved things quite a bit. But I m still left wanting more, and still not satisfied with an A/B with my Orange terror amp...

Is the Axe-Fx II XL+ 100% of the way there tonally?

Amp sound through Monitors/ IEM's , front of house live - Axefx2 (Quantum) wins for me. I prefer the tone and its more useful to me. Gone are the years of hearing my tube amp behind me, mostly at tilted ground level and assuming it sounds as good out front and/or in other band members...

Or you can go a wired system, couple of providers make some clever one lead system. Wired is always going to be > than wireless, as there will be loss through audio companding etc. Jump Audio IXM system and Posse Audio system both make wired systems, clever stuff.

I had the same issue finding something that would get on carry-on, I have read here of peoples success with variety of rack bags. I had great success with a standard hard-case carry-on suitcase. Put the Axe in on an angle so it would fit, used combo couple of bits of polystyrene and bubble...

Anyone wish for a better looper?

Let me just wipe the drool from my mouth! I discovered Mobius while looking for looping options with the Afx, amazing program! It even runs very well using the fractal as a sound output. The learning curve has been insane though.

Likewise, but I actually always struggled with tube amps live. Especially with stage volume constraints, I d get dirty or clean I d like but then hate the vice versa due to the room etc. I tweak my AXE in rehearsal, then refine at a gig with a laptop. Then I save a few versions of same preset...

Why can't 'amp in the room' feel be modelled?

These days for FR, the IR is everything to me. Surprisingly some of my favorite IR's have been the user uploaded ones on Axe-Change. I succinct way to say all of this, we don't hear with our ears we hear with our brains.

how would i get my low E string to detune down to drop D with pitch block?

Agreed with Chris its not needed this way to play the tune. But I believe this is possible using modifiers, in particular the filter section? Cooper had a section on it in his video.
