    A couple CPU-saving questions

BTW, the next firmware update will include stereo UR IRs that will save a few cpu% when compared to two UR cab blocks.

no drop out at all if you do it right with scenes. My philosophy is one preset / song if at all possible.

The Ultra had just as much drop out. Are you using Axe-edit with it while changing presets?

  5. javajunkie

Drive Block In Parallel Causes Phase Issues

Yes add latency with clean tone. Delay block time is not fine enough. Either use the delay in the cab block or place a compressor in line (1:1 ratio) and use the look ahead time.

Why is a wah always active when turning on Axe II?

Yes, this will likely fix the issue.

    MIDI CC

It would not ignore program changes. All channels send out there own program changes. He needs to set the program change on channel 2 in the preset to OFF. By default it send the same program change number as the preset it is on.
  8. javajunkie

    MIDI CC

The Axe-fx transmits a program change on every MFC-101 preset change. You can go into the mfc-101 (edit - preset -page right 2x )and change the program change of channel 2 in the current preset to OFF. Unfortunately you have to do this for every preset you use on the mfc-101.

    Compressors-Cabinet or Cabinet-Compressors?

If the motor drive is very low or off, it won't matter. If an effect is linear time invariant (like the cab block), compressor before or after will not make a difference. On the other hand, if there is significant amounts of motor drive, it could make a difference. Before or after the amp block...

    Xotic AC setting

You can use scene controllers for this. Go to the level parameter, in the modifier edit menu set modifier source to scene 1. Set a min/max that makes sense. Then go to controller menu and set the percentage of scene controller 1 to what you want the level to be in each scene.

Measuring Latency Axe XL into Logic

    Modifying external controller range

You can't do that from the axe-fx but you can from the mfc101. See section 7.3 of the mfc-101 manual.

Looking into purchasing, but need advice.

yes, you can use it just for effects. It is just a preamp. It does poweramp modeling, but you still need some sort of amplification for it. The Fuzzes are good, I prefer a couple of the real things SUF Violet Rams head, Fuzz factory, but I use the built in Fuzzes as well. It takes pedals well...

Outboard gear Input 1 A/D Level

I didnt say to the converters.
  17. javajunkie

    Xotic AC setting

I'm not sure which firmware it shipped with. Could you check and see if it is 16.02? You will almost certainly want the level turned up some. The ac is true bypass, so I just keep it plugged in and a/b between the emulation and the real thing. Yes, hit store.
  18. javajunkie

    Xotic AC setting

    What firmware are you on?
  19. javajunkie

Outboard gear Input 1 A/D Level

No. It is just a good starting point (at half) and probably where Cliff guitars are set nicely. It is where where mine are set. It also is probably where there is no digital boost or cut after the A/D converters. This would give you maximum range for unity gain.
  20. javajunkie

    Xotic AC setting

That was corrected in the last couple of firmwares, I believe. I do not get the drop on the RC boost that I used to get. But that begs the question, what firmware are you on andy?
  21. javajunkie

    Xotic AC setting

As far as drive, not here. The emulation has more drive than my pedal. Turn the level parameter up the will hit the amp harder. Also with that mid boost, besure you are not clipping the inputs of the Axe-fx, that will completely alter the sound. As far as the sound, drive 5 - volume 8 matches...

  26. javajunkie

Outboard gear Input 1 A/D Level

Right, it is balancing headroom with SNR. It is program dependent, a highly dynamic signal with lots of transients like drums is going to require more headroom than something a sine wave.
  27. javajunkie

Outboard gear Input 1 A/D Level

SNR specs secret? They are in the back of the manual. > 110 dB when you start to tickle the red you are at -6db dBFS (I believe that is what Cliff has stated). The "best" level will be as high as you can get it w/o clipping (ever). That being said, your dealing with 24 bits and usually a...

    Double tracked guitar trick

I have found it is hard to keep the Haas effect in tact for the audience in a live situation, the stereo field has a tendency to collapse. Tip: Use "Bright" instead of "Bright." WHAAAA..?

I don't understand the question? Bright switch = bright cap - capacitor across drive pot Bright Control = filter between preamp and power amp - can both darken or brighten the tone (it does the same thing as the presence on a triaxis)

had a scare tonight at a gig

Built into the input gate. There are no new parameters with it.
  57. javajunkie

Tip: Use "Bright" instead of "Bright." WHAAAA..?

They use very different techniques to get the job done. They work in different ways. The bright switch is an emulation of the bright cap found in the preamp section and is drive dependent. You can adjust the capacitors value with the bright cap parameter. The bright knob is a simple filter...

You do. Cab block and the compressor block will achieve those. Adjust the delay of one to .035. I seem to hear a extremely...
