I usually have the Freqout pedal set to Momentary so I can hold down when I want feedback on a particular held note. It makes me wonder if I can throw it in a rack and set up a latching switch on my FC-6 to accomplish this. Is anyone doing anything similar?

One of the best sounding options is the fernandez sustainor pickup. But it requires a bit of modification to your guitar. Coming in at second place would be the Digitech Freqout. And in third place, the pitch block called feedback simulator.

The Freqout could be a patentable application of a feedback reduction algorithm which can’t just be copied in the same way a fuzz circuit could... same as you can’t just duplicate the Kemper profiling concept etc That said, you don’t need to run a bunch of log cables, just put it into a loop...

Not live at high volume - so feedback hasn't been an issue for me. My Falcon has the 59 trestle bracing that is supposed to reduce feedback. Ironically a lot of my playing now is with the FX III and FRFR speakers or headphones so I am actually using a Freqout pedal to get a limited feedback effect.

Axe-Fx III block to simulate FreqOut?

There is where the compressor block helps out a lot, the pedal needs a certain input level, and as the string vibration dies out it can cut off abruptly. Some delay after it also helps give the effect longer apparent sustain as well
