Can you tell how it's sawn on a grain like this? Just wondering - sorry to bother with the questions.
  47. CodePoet

Floyd Rose Tuning / Temperature change expectations

This is the back of my Wolfgang Special neck (which has better tuning stability). Would this be quartersawn? Am I looking for grain the runs up and down the neck and not the V-shaped swirls that are in the other neck?
  48. CodePoet

Floyd Rose Tuning / Temperature change expectations

I appreciate your info @Andy Eagle. I guess I'll look for another one. So (typically) within a model's units, are the necks likely to all be cut the same way, or could each be different and you just have to investigate each one?
  49. CodePoet

Floyd Rose Tuning / Temperature change expectations

It's a Music Man Axis. They are not overly thin I don't feel. They're narrow necks (as far as nut width goes), with an asymmetrical C shape. I'll get a photo of the neck grain. No carbon reinforcement on those models I don't believe. So it doesn't seem like these are fixes I could do much...

  60. CodePoet

Floyd Rose Tuning / Temperature change expectations

Ok, but it wasn't me that mentioned extra windings, and the guitar doesn't have locking tuners - it's a locking nut w/ the Floyd Rose.
  61. CodePoet

Floyd Rose Tuning / Temperature change expectations

I'll measure whatever I can. Let me check the nut screws and I'll report back.
  62. CodePoet

Floyd Rose Tuning / Temperature change expectations

If the neck is bowing that quickly under temperature changes, is it just a one-off problem with the neck? It's an Axis w/ a birdseye maple neck. Do I need to stick it in the oven for some roasting? :tearsofjoy:
  63. CodePoet

Floyd Rose Tuning / Temperature change expectations

The string retainer bar would only be a tuning issue when locking the nut, correct? Once it's locked (and tuned) the retainer bar couldn't be causing a follow-up tuning issue correct?

Floyd Rose Tension Plate is Weak?

  65. CodePoet

Floyd Rose Tuning / Temperature change expectations

This may be the case - I've perhaps felt that my action was getting higher later in the show. Can anything be done about that?
  66. CodePoet

Floyd Rose Tuning / Temperature change expectations

That's what I'm wondering. It's a Music Max Axis (FYI). Not sure if the neck is moving - would that just be a feel thing you mean? But if that was the case, what would cause that and what could be done? I know the neck is tight to the body - don't think it's moving there.
  67. CodePoet

Floyd Rose Tuning / Temperature change expectations

I am wondering what the expectation is for a Floyd Rose guitar holding its tuning throughout a show. My (current) Most Played Guitar: EBMM Valentine

Floyd Rose Tension Plate is Weak?

Calling Floyd Rose experts. I put a Floyd Rose 1984 bridge in my MM Axis and it's been good but I have struggled getting the D-Tuna working with it and I think I've discovered why. The tension plate (pictured below) seems very weak on the low A and E strings and thus isn't putting enough...
