    MB MARK V 90w GUYS

Yes ! The hum is from the boogie itself. I think you will have to build something that uses the mute input on the 9 pin DIN. I think that mutefunction even shorts the speaker output with a relay (weird but true) . But then you have to be familiar with electronics I guess. I don´t think it...

    Dialling in Mark V

Much of the gain is in the treble control. Set the treble high (7-10) (bass (2)and mid (3) pretty low) and shape your tone with the graphic EQ.

    1965 Vox AC30 2x12 IR

Ok The whole filename was incredible long. I couldn't fit it on my ipad screen But after downloading it directly to my macs folder the name looks normally long and the size became 11 kB as it should. Weird Ain't it ?
  8. T

    1965 Vox AC30 2x12 IR

Thank's You were right Dropbox fucked it up That has never happened to me before The size and name became smaller and the axe axepted it. It sounds really good actually. Good balance of everything. Does anybody know if it is a ultra res ir
  9. T

    1965 Vox AC30 2x12 IR

Well, I right-click the link in the first post and choose "save target as". Then I choose location - dropbox - axe2-folder, where I usually save this kind of stuff.
  10. T

    1965 Vox AC30 2x12 IR

Well I don't what the hell is happening. It looks to be 10.6 kB but when it ends up i my dropbox it's 27kB. It's not supported by my axe 2 neither as preset or cab ir.
  11. T

    1965 Vox AC30 2x12 IR

Ok ! :-) That solves the problem I guess. I thought it was an IR Thanks
  12. T

    1965 Vox AC30 2x12 IR

It´s still 27 kB. Maybe it will be different if I download it from axe edit instead of windows.

Yes Of course That's what i tried
  15. T

    1965 Vox AC30 2x12 IR

What do you mean ? I clicked "import" and browsed to the folder and clicked the ir. Axe edit says , file not supported. It looked like it was 27kB What is wrong with doing that ?
  16. T

    1965 Vox AC30 2x12 IR

I couldn't import it to axe edit. I have a regular axe II . What can I do ?
  17. T

Global EQ when AxeFxII as USB computer audio interface. A question.

I think it's possible. Remember , you have input 2 as well.

Axe-Fx into power amp and cab sounds like cardboard, what's up ?

Check your speakercabs or your poweramp. Maybe two elements are out of phase. Or check your speaker models. Maybe they are supposed to sound like crap :-) In theori , if you made an IR of your cab, the preset should sound the same through your studio headphones if you inserted it as in the...

    Anyone Have a JVM410?

Well ! I have a JVM 410 HJS I guess it depends on the actuall channel being used. But on the lead channels, the red mode has really lots of gain and feels copressed a lot (compared to the green).

    Fletcher-Munson curve query

I guess you´re right. If you don´t turn up you have actually created your sound at your gig-level.
  23. T

    Fletcher-Munson curve query

Well ! Then what is the problem really. If you have in ear-monitoring I guess the only one hearing your amp would be the drummer, or singer,or bassplayer. They usually don´t care much about the guitarsound. Also the in-ear system will sound so unnatural that this will probably not be an issue.
  24. T

Frustation! First bad "gig" with the Axe....ever.

Sorry to ask this but: What if the global cab-simulation was bypassed. Or if the wrong output was used (output 2 instead of output 1) and the cab block only goes to output 1.

    60Hz Hum When Facing Axe-Fx...

Haha ! Great news, guitarpickups pick up noise. :-) They allways did as far as I can remember. I bet it´s not only 60 Hz but every frequenzy in the space. One million reasons for this. Electromagnetic fields caused by anything.... Plastic laptop ?
  26. T

Lag when switching presets. Can it be fixed?

I think it works faster with ordinairy midi than with FCB eternet cable. At least what I can remember. Maybe because of the two direction communication.

    Lonestar

I guess no more than 5 on the master. Let the preamp do the job. I don't know about the input drive. On my real lonestar there are two gains. The second one has a bright cap. I am not sure if the model has. The bass controll is the hardest part. I usually set it with the neck pickup to check the...

    speaker resonance with frfr speakers

I would set it as close to my favorite cab values as possible. The amps tone is strongly affected by this parameter. I wouldn´t care about the monitors resonance at all.
  30. T

    Bass resonance mk2c

I just noticed that the speaker resonance were a little different on the mk2c than most other amps in fw 18.08. The bass resonance were really low in magnitude. I moved it up from 3 to 5,5 or something and the amp sounded a lot fuller to me. (Maybe it is simulating an evm12l impedance curve...

    Call me crazy but...

Well, no ! It´s a process... The Axe (or amp) reacts like it does depending on what is being put in. If you put in crap you will get crap out of it. That´s the way it should work. A real amp reacts different with different guitars and pickups. Level and Eq-ing can be done, to compensate...

What is "BF fixed mid" tone stack?

Like Cliff said, all of the default stacks are skyline (pre or post). If you are insecure, switch from default to skyline, and listen for any diferrence. I don´t think you will find one.
  34. T

    Understanding the IIC+

I think that the modeled "bright" amp is with the "pull bright" on the lead master activated. It connects a cap over the 3.rd or 4:th gain stage´s cathode. It shorts the higher frequenzys to ground giving them a boost. It´s some sort of current feedback high shelf filter. I can give tighter...
  35. T

    Understanding the IIC+

Well it´s boost the low mids.... (Or it boost the frequenzys that has been taking away by the tone stack depending on the setting)
  36. T

    Understanding the IIC+

No it´s not. It´s a 33k resistor (and a cap in parallell) in series with the mid potentiometer. At least on the MK 2b it is. The mid pot gets lifted from ground. Basically the tone stack allmost stops from working and becomes near flat. It produces a fat an flubby sound, and of course with...

    Why does this preset clip?!?!?

I set all my amps at unity-gain on the utililty-meters then I know they are all the same level. It could be caused by a bass heavy IR if you are using one. Or maybe a bassheavy anything.....
  38. T

    Why does this preset clip?!?!?

I have noticed that cab-blocks increase the total level. I good idea might be to normalize all cab blocks. So that they have the same clip headroom as without cab block. Some times for example I insert a cab block (for recording) on a patch I use for live gigs, then this happens easily.
  39. T

What is "BF fixed mid" tone stack?

I think they call it skyline but I´m not shure. The dumbles also have lots of switches for jazz - rock etc so there should be several skyline models . On the other hand I think they look like blackface stacks in rock position, but I´m not 100% shure of that ...
  40. T

What is "BF fixed mid" tone stack?

I think on those ODS models the pre-distortion tone stack doesn´t work, but the AXE has another, post tone-stack, added to the circuit, that of course does work .

    What causes this volume difference?

I also started a thread like that. Nobody seemed to agree. As you say , at the end of the day we want the same level . Another interesting fact, if you move your speaker cable from a 1-12 to a 4-12 the signal at the mic drops 6dB , namely a fourth of the power . Since the 4 12s are sharing the...

Really ! I remember we did that on marshall´s in the 70´s and 80´s as a simple mod. They also have it in the modern/vintage marshall model. I don´t now if I really like that sound but mayby somebody else does. :-) The drawback is that the presence control won´t work properly untill the master...

Axe-Fx II Firmware 18.00 Public Beta

Very good ! :-) in 17.04 the amps felt great to play but after an hour of loud playing every amp started to sound the same. There was some common side-effect in all models that I couldn´t get rid off. Some fizzyness.. But in fw 18 this problem seems to have dissappeared. The feeling is great...
  53. T

High gain amps that clean up with volume knob

Forgot the mention , you can also set the in-imp on the axe fairly low, 120 k ohm or 68 k ohm .This will eat up your treble att full guitar vol. You will get the treble back when you turn down guitar volume. BUT ! this will only work if your guitar goes straight into the axe-input with nothing...

High gain amps that clean up with volume knob

One simple Idea would be that with master volume at high settings you will ger fatter tone at high levels, and clearer, opened up sounds when signal decreases. That should probably be the case with any amp. I guess you also could use the multiband comp to achive this (but that´s boring, i...

    IR Frequency Response Visualization Plot

You can´t compare them with signal-voltage -IR´s. Those are constant power input (1w at 1m distance), I think. power and voltage plot would look very different since an 8 ohm speakers impedance goes betwean 6,5-32 oms, or something. But I think Albert IR converter can show an average-frequenzy plot.

For those of you running both direct and pwr amp + cab

I have found it hard to choose a cab IR among one million different that will fit in a mix with different PA systems and different bandsituations. But I prefere to make it as simple as possible. It's hard to give advice without knowing your music , I guess. I use one IR for the PA and adjust...

    Amazing what wire can do

I have seen this behavior to. :roll I think about it as if the negative feedback is being sent back from the speaker jack, instead of the speaker poles. And that theese to signals is supposed to be the same, but they're not , because of the "resistor" in between. I've been thinking about...

    FW.17 no low end ?

The depth is actually working after all, but depends on the presence setting. If you look at a boogie schematic you can se that the negative feedback is sort of a filter. It boost the lower frequenzys at lower presence settings. I think you will be happy with the new solution.

    Program change sound dropout

Hi, no actually not ! I have all presets configured in the same way ,with global delays and reverbs. The only thing I change is the amp modell. Someimes the delay is on intead of off . All use amp 1.

    Program change sound dropout

No no axe edit. Just as a liverig. My ultra was really fast changing presets. That was one of the reasons I bought it. Right now it's not very usuable since you have to take a brake everytime you switch preset. I might have to start messing with scenes and stuff, if that is a faster way.

    Program change sound dropout

    USB Direct vs Audio Interface

Yes of course the bit-depth is allways 24 . But if we have 8 zeros (caused by low level) all the time it will behave as 16 bits. And if I put it this way. If you record extremly low level so only the last bit moves (23 zeros) you will get a lousy sound quality even if the noise figures are...
  97. T

    USB Direct vs Audio Interface

I agree with Plyall. You get less digital resolution (numbers to represent the "voltage-picture-of" the signal if you record 20dB lower . Especially the low levels (ring out´s etc..) will benifit if you use all bit´s. It´s like pixels in the voltage domain. I don´t think we went to 24 bit´s...
