    There are a few issues that I can think of running a passthrough. 1, a lot of connector mass hanging off of the punch plate, 2 not having the wiring dressed down point to point. Maybe not a huge deal but it does make a difference especially if you are moving the board a lot.

    If all you are feeding with the OP is the FR I would play with the levels on both the FM and the FR to get the best S/N ratio! I would set up the FM with the OP at noon and drop the OP output level to the -10 db setting and see how it sounds. At full volume the noise of the FR wasn't too bad...

    You won't regret it, and yes your FM3 presets will run on the FM9. That's the other really cool thing about the platform FAS has come up with, for the most part presets will run on all 3 units given CPU will allow it.

    I feel the FM 9 is the perfect tool for live siduations! Though you can use it to record with I see the Axe FX III as more of a studio tool first then a live tool as you need to have the FC to use it in that setting. Unless you really need to power to run complex presets the FM 9 is the deal!
