Love my new Axe FX XL+, but I'm hearing random clicks or crackles...

Yes some presets clearly pop and others are completely silent. I tried to compare ones that pop to others that do not while finding no explanation for the difference. I do know the CPU was never the issue as they were well below 90%. Cliff once said it might be the input volume being too loud...

Love my new Axe FX XL+, but I'm hearing random clicks or crackles...

I experience the same issue where the presets make the popping noises even with my input gate lowered but it's only some of them that do it. Strangely enough custom presets I import never have an issue. Also this is happening for me on patches well below 90%.

Thanks for the advice. Before taking it I installed the new beta firmware and without adjusting anything as per your suggestion I tried most of the factory presets at the same volumes as yesterday and I experienced no popping noises out of my monitors. Does this make any sense to you at all...

How many of you use REAL cabs still?

I play out of 4 Mesa Boogie 4*12 cabs (two front and two back) out of my sound proof music studio I built in my house. Despite this I always play with amp sims on because frankly it sounds way better!

U2 Edge falls off stage

I was there live! Was quite scary indeed and it was during the last song so he didnt need to keep going. Incredible show and great sound. He had all these vox amps displayed. Was that just for show or he blends those with the axe?? Ill post some pics later. Second show tonight!!

Setting up Mesa Simul Class Two/Ninety/Two with the AxeFx?

I forgot to say I leave the Axe power modeling on too. It sounds way better with it on. I did manage to get my Mesa 4*12 cabs sounding great on their own but I also actually prefer using Cab sims.

Whats the big deal about adding the noise gate? I have a couple of hardcore noisy metal pedals that I managed to quiet down without any tone suck. Now that I know what Im doing it takes 30 seconds. Please try it out.

Pedal in the fx loop hiss. Newbie question.

You have to put a noise gate after the amp and cab block but before the reverb, delay etc. I use many pedals with the loop and experience this problem often. You need to play with the gate settings and even try the various input options in said gate settings. All my pedals are dead quiet now yet...

Interesting. I also use a Mesa 2:90 and still find the cab blocks way better. Any chance you just havent experimented with enough blocks? Perhaps its just preference or something is wrong with my cabs but to me there is no comparison. Either way as along as you are happy my fellow Mesa brotha!

Start using cab blocks! I play out of four mesa 4*12 cabs (loud) and still prefer the cab block sims. Seems crazy to not use them. But yes a solution for when you want just cabs is cool too.

Effect for Eb tuning?

The digitech drop pedal is the best one out there. Sorry to say it blows the Axe Fx 2 away. I experience no latency and the sound quality is so natural that I like it better than an actual tuned down sound. This can be said even at 1.5 steps down. I love the thing!

Care to share these dialing in real cab tips? I love the option to hear just my own cabs but it would be foolish to be blind to all the ultra res cab options there are out there just because you believe a real cab will always sound better.

I use four 4*12 Mesa Cabs and leave Cabs sims on. It sounds way way way better (and yes I play at crazy high Volumes). Perhaps you need to go through the hundreds of available ultra res cabs? Maybe you just chose one you do not like.

Given up trying to get USB to work

Get an Apogee Duet. I use an Apogee Symphony (much more expensive version) with Pro logic and experience 0.0 latency. The axe fx 2 and your monitors will hook into the apogee (input and output would then obviously be the apogee). I guarantee you will love it for a variety of reasons.

Anyone else still having issues backing up MFC?

I got it to work! I changed MFC port to disabled in the I/O menu and it took! Sorry thats not in any instruction so I dont feel so dumb. Thanks for the help guys and good luck other dude with the same issue!

I 100% confirmed my midi wire was plugged in properly (again I successfully updated the firmware). I do have the ethercon still plugged in to power the mfc though. I cant find the power supply! Is that possibly my issue? If so why did my firmware update? Thanks
