    I have used the ultra, axe 2, and ax8 with a mosvalve mv962 and the matrix gt800. Both sound fantastic I do think the mosvalve has something going on that I prefer It defiantly is not flat response but just has this vibe about it.

    I second the small monitor with sub recommendation. I use the Presonis E5 with the presonis 10" sub. The sub has a bypass footswich I use to play late at night. This is the best home guitar setup I have ever had.

    it didn't take me long to get my basic tone. Wrecker express into a Ownhammer Scumback IR G12H75 or G12M75 = minimal tweaking for me. But I have be at this a while.

    I use 2 Ernie ball vpjr's with the guts ripped out and moded with a single linear taper pot wired strait to a trs jack. I also remove the back rubber stopper and stick a 7/16 nut under it to limit the travel and put a longer screw in. This setup is much better than my mission pedals imo.

    12" x 24" pedalboard ideas

    I tossed around the same idea of building a pedalboard but decided due to weight and the fact that I carry all my equipment, I went with a pedal train 2 classic. Built a compartment under it out of brake metal to hold my cords. It is fantastic for the ax8 and 2 expression pedals.

    the standard/ultra are both fantastic units that will rise above every other digital unit except the kemper. The axe 2 is an amp in my opinion and is in another league entirely. just my opinion. However I have never played a kemper and I am sure they are good also.
