    Now I reply to my own post ;) It seams to be the red channel - there are tons of gain - I use a gain setting about 1 (!) on the AxeFx model to get my sound. I tweaked it to sounds very close to the real JVM in my room - sounds better than the JVM direct out.

    Its very good as it is - yesterday a tube lover checked my II and was impressed. He prefered the two steps down from the Axe over the two steps down in the Variax. The Variax advantage is that it can change the pitch for each string eg to create open or droped tunings.

    Yes, the first patches in the II are amp, cab and a little delay/reverb only - it showcased all the different amp models & new cabs. A lot of the Ultra patches are also in the II - so old (effect) friends like the 'Organ' are in there. IMHO do I prefer the presets in the II.

    Variax and AxeFx II

    Yes, it's one patch and one track only. The basis was some preset 'Velvet ...' (Forgot the name), removed one reverb, added reverb at the end of the chain, added a 'clean line', .. The Variax acoustic sound was modified by the patch - I may record a 'normal acoustic' sound later.
