What do you think the new future of FC controllers will do and look like?

The issue there is cost. Ron at RJM has talked at length about how expensive they are on their forums. I'm pretty sure they are the biggest factor in the massive price difference between RJM and Fractal MIDI controllers.

What do you think the new future of FC controllers will do and look like?

I think the form factor is already pretty fantastic, so unless a new floor-based rig is designed, I don't think any big changes are required there, though I wouldn't be surprised if next gen controllers are based more on LCD screens. I think the real area for potential growth is in the...

    Liquid Foot MIDI question

Tried it last night, but I'm not a fan of that solution. The blinking light got annoying, and I'm then not able to use the alternate function of that F switch without first getting out of sticky scene mode - more switch hits then I'd like. It's also kind of annoying to have to specifically...

    Liquid Foot MIDI question

I thought about both of those ideas. Unfortunately I need more than 4 switches for effects use, and I really want to have access to more then 4 scenes. I'd love it if we could get a version of the MFC's reveal function to unlock another "page" of programmable buttons at the hit of a switch. As...

I finally got my replacement AX8 yesterday (it works!), and I have started going through and programming my template preset and footswitches layout. Maybe not exactly the answer you're looking for (I'm not sure how you would do it like you asked), but why not just get a small A/B box and run it in front of the AX8? Then you don't have to worry about any routing weirdness, and you can still have both guitars ready to go at a moments notice.

Who's using pedals with the AX8?

You know you'll need to use a TRS - 2x TS cable to make the R2E2 work? AX8 doesn't support two switches on one TRS cable like the MFC-101 does. Wouldn't want you to have any undue surprises after buying it!
  12. PianoMan

Who's using pedals with the AX8?

Once I get my AX8 back from Fractal, I'll be using a Walrus Deep Six compressor pre-input, then a POG 2 in the AX8 effects loop. An EV-1 will be my volume pedal, and I'll have a Boss FS-5U or two hooked up as external switches, though I haven't fully decided what to do with them yet.

If I understand you correctly, then it already does this. You specify exactly what effects are engaged and what the X/Y state is for every block in each scene.

First one I've seen on ebay...talk about markup!

I'm not. The AX8 largely plays to a different crowd then the Axe Fx. A lot of people on the waitlist are getting in for the first time because they couldn't afford a Fractal product before now. Is it just me ... or is anyone else starting to think we -wont- see the AX8 until Q1 2016 ?

Would I be able to use the AX8 like this....

It's a great idea! Post-amp delay is possible - just drop it in after the amp model and FX loop block. Really the only difference between this and traditional 4CM is the presence of an additional block in the FX loop.
  53. PianoMan

Would I be able to use the AX8 like this....

You could do it using scenes by sending signal to two outputs - 1 direct output for the clean with the amp model, and one output to the amp from a signal split from the path before the amp model comes into play. The scene would be set to mute one of the two outputs essentially. Complicated, but...

    AX8 or FX8 (Can't be both)

Yep. The FX8's big advantage is its optimisation for noise free 4CM method. If you aren't going to run 4CM, then there isn't much reason not to favor the AX8 that I can see.

    No Effects Loop

Depends on how you use the amp. I use my amp as a clean platform (I run it just on the edge of breakup), with my AxeFx II taking the place of a traditional pedalboard. I'll be running a small pedalboard with the AX8/EV-1, some external switches, a drive (in the FX loop for scene control), and possibly a compressor (if I can't fit one into my preset template). Another AX8 switch question

As much as I want the jacks to support 2 switches each, I doubt they will. The MFC supports it, but the FX8 doesn't as best I can tell. My guess is that the AX8 is more likely to follow the FX8 in this regard.
