    This is a proximity chart of a R-121 mic that I found on the Internet. Not being sure how true it is, low cut could be a necessity for the low end to stay authentic. That's why I also suspect that low cut may be necessary even for bass guitar.

    Yes, L is a bit boomy for my taste. Recto 4x12 Straight's resonance is 72Hz. Rumble seems to have more than one resonance peaks, but not so sharp. These two are different than the other 4x12's, generally having one peak around 110-120hz. My favorite two cabs are these two right now.

    Yes, dynacabs made me use and like the Mesa 4x12's with very little effort. I also didn't like them at all with previous IR's. I think that it is the new continuous workflow that makes any cab useable. Kind of like switching from digital to analogue :)

    The JP2C's knob ranges are a bit narrower and more in the ballpark when set to near noon IMHO. For example, I set USA lead (mk4) bass to 1 - 1.5, while I set the JP2C bass to 3-4. Try and see if it works for you.

    Paying also for a power amp should be optional IMHO. Although it has pre and power amp models, eventually it is a preamp device and it could be more preferable if it stays that way.
