    [HELP NEEDED] Axe-Fx ULTRA + G-System : 4CM method

A while ago, all my gear was stolen and now I'm slowly acquiring my old setup again. It's been a while since I hooked up a system, so I'm kinda having a brainfart. How do I hook my G-System and Axe-FX ULTRA up in a 4CM-style? To clarify: From what I remember, I used to run the G's preamp...

AxeFX ULTRA / G-System / Strymon Big Sky -> MIDI issue

Hey guys, I've been using the G and the AxeFX Ultra together for a long time with success, even adding a Bome MIDI Translator to the setup to enable keystrokes for Ableton Live clip launches. Now, I recently got a Strymon Big Sky and I'm able to switch presets on the Big Sky via MIDI, but they...

[Gain Staging] - FX Loop controls, least amount of noise

So, we've got Input 2 / Output 2 controlling the FX loop on the Axe-FX. I'm using a G-System along with it and I've got no problems making it sound good. At the FX-loop block I drop the 'Main' down to -6dB or else I'll get audible clipping, the rest is open to twisting. So, we've got these...

Launching Clips with Ableton Live using the Axe-FX and a G-System

So, guys, I wanted to get back to you with some good news. I downloaded Bome's MIDI Translator and got it to work. You just capture the MIDI on the preset change and then select C0 22 (for instance), which is the PC message. You can then translate an outgoing message for that, a MIDI signal or...

Launching Clips with Ableton Live using the Axe-FX and a G-System

So, I've been toying around with Bome's and I've got it to work, partially ... Bome's not to blame, I think. The G's preset switches all seem to send out the same CC15. Now I've enabled it to launch clips, but every preset button launches the same clip, since they all seem to send out the same...

Yup! If you check post 3 in this thread, I recommended that to myself, haha. I've known about Bome for a while, but I've never delved into it. I downloaded the free Classic version today and will try to see if I can make it work this week.

Launching Clips with Ableton Live using the Axe-FX and a G-System

Exactly. I know this. You can program any button to send out MIDI signal, but those are the buttons inside the preset itself. The preset button (1 - 5) sends out MIDI as well, which enables me to switch presets on the G and the Axe. That works fine and perfectly. The tempo's are even synced via...

Launching Clips with Ableton Live using the Axe-FX and a G-System

To the first: no clue, honestly. I have it programmed now to send out MIDI notes, since those work well for triggering stuff. To the 2nd: No clue. FCB is connected to my 4x4 MIDI hub, into my soundcard (PreSonus FP10). That's about it. Nothing special going on here. I'm sure everything MIDI...

Launching Clips with Ableton Live using the Axe-FX and a G-System

No, the G-System's design is surrounded around the controller, if I'm not mistaken. When the Cat5 cable isn't connected, it won't even really turn on. Besides, editing it with anything else than the G-System controller would be kinda pointless.

No-No, that's missing the point. I already have a Behringer FCB1010 to trigger samples, but sometimes I need to switch presets on my guitar rig and my software rig - AT THE SAME TIME. That's kinda the point here. Regarding the CC's, I'm not sure. It might be that Live is just interpreting it...

Well, I haven't owned one, but I've had some experience with them. The Sonic Maximizer isn't the thing, it just adds low end and some high end (I've owned one). The TS just cuts some lows and tightens stuff up. Regarding references, well try YouTube or check this video out by Misery Signals:

No-No, you're quite right. However, it's about perception. The thing is, if I can get a real 5150-like sound with a FRFR setup, then, honestly, it's not a good 5150 model.

That's kinda contra-dictionary to what others are saying: cabs will change the character of the gain and the perceived character of the amp.
