My suggestions is this: Start by getting as nice a guitar as you can afford and concentrate on your playing. I love my AXE-FX, it's an incredible machine, but it will make you spend a lot (and I mean a lot) of time exploring and tweaking the beast. This will be at the expense of your playing...

Yet another FW15 update preset amp question

AFAIK you will not hear a difference in all cases. Only specific models that had their parameters changed, and even then it depends on which and how you monitor it (headphones/speakers). Still it's recommended to go through the process to make sure you get the latest and best possible settings...

How to control USB Audio Mix with Guitar

In this situation, I usually adjust the playback volume of the play along track through the player on my computer in relation to the guitar sound. The general level is set through the volume of the Axe has I'm monitoring the whole thing through the headphone out.

A weird POLL of guitar tones

Indeed A warmer, But I would qualify B has more sparkle. A will sound better on it's own for some material, but I suspect B will cut much better in a mix. Apples and Oranges...

Different Scenes - Trouble with Same Amp/Different Settings

I did not try this myself yet, but I'm wondering if you could still manage to use X/Y changes smartly to avoid dropouts. For example the usual setup would do something like this: Scene 1 : Amp 1 X (ON) - Amp 2 X (MUTE) Scene 2 : Amp 1 X (MUTE) - Amp2 X (ON) Scene 3 : Huh using controllers...

Yes, hard to say you like one over the other. One's a bit muffled and the other is shrilled. The idea to compare is great, but I suppose if you could include a comparison of the best tone possible from both units using the same config, that would give us a chance to favor one over the other. :-)

Suggestion: Unified naming scheme for cab IRs

I think it's a good suggestion. If all IRs used a naming convention sorting and searching through them would be much easier of course!

Do You Hear a Difference

First clip has more edge. Second is rounder, but I do not really find it punchier. To be honest, both are good. If we have the real thing vs the modeler here, then I'm sorry, I like them both, and wouldn't be able to pick the modeler from the real thing. At least in this clip and in that...

Haven't verified, but my guess is your amp blocks will be resetted to default values. :-| I guess having a back-up copies will save you lots of headaches should you "forget" how you got to those sounds before. I'd be great if we could somehow "export" the settings of a preset from Axe-Edit in a...

Count me in! I wonder though: Is it not recommended to use a Solid State amp for capturing IR? If I'm right, the matrix amp might induce coloration you might not want in you IRs...

3.04 and 13.02 Axe unit and Edit Crashes (FIXED)

I experienced the same thing, except I wasn't scrolling preset fast: I was listening to an audio stream from the computer (youtube) through the axe and tweaking through axe-edit at the same time. Switching a preset with the arrows resulted in the same crash described by the OP, happened a few...

Good Idea (possibly wrong forum)! :-) IMO, he was using an older Marshal than the 800, like Kriig suggested, a Plexi would probably be closer to the money! IR's are everything, so make sure you try a lot of them and pick the one that take's you the closest to the core tone you're looking for. I...
