Software FracPad III - iOS/Android/Mac/Win Editor for the Axe-Fx II/XL/XL+, AX8/FX8, Axe-Fx III and FM3/FM9

Third party software for Fractal Audio products.
Fm3 usb can't be used
Fm9 usb can be used with a cable, not a yamaha ud-bt01
I'm considering using FracPad with my FM3. I thought I would try the Lite version first before buying into the full version. Can someone point me to info on how this can be connected to the FM? I am currently using an external midi controller connected to the midi port of the FM3. It also has an input and can pass thru to another device. Is this a good way to do it or is there another way allowing both to talk to the FM3? Appreciate any help offered, it's hard to find good info about this app.

the FM3 can be connected with a Roland um-one midi adapter (or an adapter fully supporting sysex transfers, which is not very common) or a Yamaha MD-BT01

Thanks for that, I was just reading that on the WIKI page. Does that mean I can't use my midi foot controller with that setup? Or can I connect it the Roland UM-ONE to my midi foot controller, out of the controller via standard midi cable to FM3, and to close the loop, connect the midi out of the FM3 to the Roland UM-ONE? I don't trust anything wireless!

If your foot controller has a full midi thru it should work... Best way to know is to try

Hi @AlGrenadine,

for me, the Song Mode could be the single most useful feature of FracPad - if only it worked as it is supposed to! When the set list does not fit on a single screen and you try to scroll by dragging with your finger, the screen jumps back into its original place as soon as the finger is lifted from the screen, as shown in the little video here. This is still around in version 3.52.

The device shown in the video is an old iPad Air with iPadOS 12.5.7. I also have a 10th Gen. iPad with iPadOS 18.1, and the behavior of FracPad III Song Mode is exactly the same.

Any progress on this one?

Hi,
I didn't manage to reproduce it on my iPad :(
Will try again tomorrow

I also have an original iPad Air. It’s 11 years old, and Apple retired its OS five years ago. It develops new compatibility issues as time goes on, to the point that I can’t trust it 100% for anything. I keep it around because it’s my only Apple product, which makes it the only thing I have that can run FaceTime, which is the only video call app that some in my family are comfortable with.

TLDR: I wouldn’t trust it as a test for whether something works.

As I wrote above, I have also tested this on a 10th Gen. iPad (from 2024) with iPadOS 18.1 (the current version) and was able to fully replicate the issue. So this is definitely not a compatibility issue with the old iPad or outdated iOS.

Yes, I saw that, and you’re right. But still, failure to operate with an original iPad Air is not incriminating evidence. ;)

Still wasn't able to reproduce. How many songs did you add in your set?

Apparently I had misunderstood something, I thought it no longer worked via USB as it used to with the AX-8. I've just tried it out and it works with my iPad. Great, thanks for your fast reply.

The ESI Midimate eX is similar to the Roland UM-One, it's a German company.

Only on fm3, which isn't midi class-compliant

Hi everyone, just a question: if I have an usb cable with fractal usb connector and usb c do i need an adaptor to connect my FM9 to my iPad Pro? I don’t understand why I need an adaptor.
I tried and Lite version works without adaptor!
