    FM3 Firmware Version 8.00 beta 1

When I did change PP#4 to Layout 7, View 2, which is what I use, it was fine. But again, I’ve never even noticed that Layout Link option because I never needed to touch it. It always went to the Layout and View I wanted, 7 and 2. I hope I’m explaining it correctly.

    FM3 Firmware Version 8.00 beta 1

The Layout Link for FM3 was Layout Blank and view 1. I never even noticed that before. It was the same on both of my Per Preset settings, PP#3 and PP#4, PP#3 was fine - it never switched the view and it acted as it should. PP#4 was the same but switched the Layout and View to 1 and 1. I never...

    FM3 Firmware Version 8.00 beta 1

Just ran into an issue with stand in switches that I only saw after this beta update. One of my external Boss pedals worked fine with both the tap and the hold switches behaving as expected. But the second pedal was changing views on me when I would tap it. That’s when I saw on the unit itself...

Tips for filling out tones in a rock trio?

Big thing Ive found for bringing down a thin sound live is simply turning down the hi cut in the cab block. Go as low as you need to get the tone where you want it. Disregard the value and just use your ears. For my tele I go down to about 3500. It’s an easy and uncomplicated fix.

    Amp and drive combinations…

Yes, one drive block which accomodates the 2 Klons and the 1 Jam Ray. I tried using different amps or channels of amps for the clean/dirt changes and couldn't tolerate the tone gap. And when I tried scene controllers to control different parameters it froze my unit. I got the 2 comps idea from...

    Amp and drive combinations…

Tele player here. I use the Bassman on clean, the Klon on low gain for edge of breakup and then another dirtier channel of it for dirt, then the Jam Ray for full lead. Use a JFET comp prior to all pedals and the Optical Comp post cabinet to really make the tone shine.

Bug? FM3 Freezes When adjusting amp boost settings on unit itself

This truly is a mystery. Keep having the same issue. But then I decided to clear an empty preset and create the same one from scratch, to see if the preset is corrupted. As I'm creating it, I'm playing a while before I edit the next block. Everything was foine, no issues, until I added the...

Bug? FM3 Freezes When adjusting amp boost settings on unit itself

Well, this is quite curious. I am updating the presets on the unit itself and it is now stuck on the last few presets - 505/512. Unit is frozen. I don't if I should power off and try again. Wow, I've never had a problem with the FM3.

Preset attached. It’s only running around 72%. If you could try switching the amp boost types to see if it freezes your unit that would be appreciated. I switch from neutral, to ts808, then to ts808 mod and that’s when it happens.

Bug? FM3 Freezes When adjusting amp boost settings on unit itself

I’m coming across a strange situation I‘ve never had before. I’m on firmware 6.02, and in one of my presets with the 1987x amp, my unit freezes intermittently when I switch the boost settings in the amp block. I’ve reset the whole unit, have reinstalled the firmware, etc. When it occurs the...

Recommendations for an Amp Model that works for clean, crunch and lead

I use various scenes with the 1987x model, based on Austin Buddy’s settings. It’s clean sound is very close to a Tweed Bassman, nice and warm. I actually use that set at barely edge of breakup. I then use the scene controllers and the TS 9 pedal to get a nice lead sound. For crunch it’s the...

Is there an automatic gap when setting a CS to a scene, because that's what I'm finding.

I was not changing amp channels (or Cab channels ) on any of the scenes, was just using a Control Switch on about 10 different parameters to try and go gapless, but that overloaded the unit somehow. So my plan B is working great instead.
  19. O

Is there an automatic gap when setting a CS to a scene, because that's what I'm finding.

Actually it didn't work. It seemed the unit was overloaded by all the CS modifiers I set up. What was happening was the unit would freeze and the tone sounded like it was coming from the midpoint of a wah pedal. This happened multiple times. I would turn the unit off, back on, it would work for...

I’m actually making progress with this, as I keep learning more and more about the switch functionality even after owning this for about 3 years. Is there an automatic gap when setting a CS to a scene, because that's what I'm finding.

And I need to change more than the gain to get the tone I want, thus adding around 8 parameters to the CS. Scene Controllers wouldn’d be able to handle this (I think)
  22. O

Is there an automatic gap when setting a CS to a scene, because that's what I'm finding.

I am using this method to get rid of the audio gap when switching channels. But when using the CS per Scene functionality, the gap is the same as if I am switching channels. And it doesn’t matter if I have anything in the hold button of the FS button as I tried that also. If CS3 is on its own...

Is there an automatic gap when setting a CS to a scene, because that's what I'm finding.

I have set up CS3 on my unit to vary between clean and dirty on the same amp and amp channel on my FM3, per some of the instructions on the forum. When the CS3 is assigned to one of my footswitches and I press it, the amp change is instantaneous, so it works as it should. However, if I don't...

Why does the sound of a modeler have to be "the sound of a miced amp" instead of "the sound of an amp"

The one thing that has always boggled my mind with this, and maybe it’s from me running sound with my band that has all classic rock instruments (guitar, drums, sax, piano/keys, bass), and me being the guitarist, is that mic’d cabs or the modeler simulation of such, are needed to cut through the...

    IEM EQ technique

Thank you, that thread is great. Yes, that fizzy sound was a bit overbearing, but you actually need those frequencies to cut through a live mix at FOH. So again, solution of having one eq from the FM3 signal for the IEM's and one without that EQ for FOH does the trick for me. One other detail -...

    IEM EQ technique

I do like the IEM’s because I can hear things so clearly. It was just that the guitar tone was so thin but this really helped. For me, the main tone I’m concerned with is FOH, so this seems like a good compromise.
  28. O

    IEM EQ technique

It wasn’t low end. The mids were severely lacking, and the spl response graph really showed that. I boosted the mids and the tone was much better. And it’s strange that the other instruments and vocals sounded fine.
  29. O

    IEM EQ technique

I just started using IEM’s and absolutely hated my tone coming through them. It was way too thin and sounded nothing like my FOH tone. I send my FM3 Left out to a QSC Touchmix and then send an aux mix to the IEM’s. So I thought to look up the frequency response curve of the IEM’s and try and use...

    Solo boost db?

I go anywhere from 4-7 db's, depending on the patch. I also set up my expression pedal so I can adjust the boost db's on the fly with it. I find dirty sounds to need less of a db boost, probably due to the compression of the dirt.

I bought the Line 6 Firehawk, which I know is way different than the Helix but it appears to me that the footswitch placement is similar.
