    Bug? Layout Links in Per-Preset

It's a race condition bug. If the PP# function causes the current preset to change (preset select, inc/dec, song select, etc.), it is changing presets before the layout link has a chance to fire. Because the preset changes, so do all the PP# settings. If the destination preset has a layout...

    Wah/vol in same preset w/o M-plex block?

You need to use the channel setting in the modifiers to enable and disable the pedal action as needed in the block as you change channels. For example, in the Control parameter modifier in the Wah block, set it to channel to A. Then the pedal will only auto-engage and control the wah block...

Wish Minimum time between two triggers of the same external switch (Debounce)

Harkening back to my diy pedal building days, you generally get what you pay for with stomp switches. There's a lot of cheap junk out there so it can be tough sometimes to find a good quality switch. Carling makes good quality switches that last.

I have boss FS-6 I'd like to use as global up down output 1 volume

Not globally. There are options for incrementing or decrementing the OUT 1 or 2 block levels and auto saving per preset though. You can assign those pedal inputs to them in the MIDI/Remote menu > Other page on the front panel UI. Each trigger is +/- 1dB.

    Good quality power amp

Either one should have plenty of power in stereo. Bridged mono you're risking blowing your speakers with 100 watt cabs. Greenbacks have 98 dB sensitivity, so even 10 watts through them will be quite loud.
  9. mr_fender

    Dumb Question.... But Gotta Ask...

Set Output 1 mode to Mute in the I/O menu. That mutes the monitoring connection between the OUT 1 block and the Output 1 jacks, but you can still record Output 1 via USB. You'll get added monitoring latency if you monitor through software, so keep that in mind.

It should work fine. It's tip to wiper polarity with a 10k linear pot. The switch is wired TRS, but that will work with the FM9 too as long as you use a TRS cable.

Not a Bug Volume Block Before vs After Amp

The compression of the amp block is changing the response. A volume pedal before the amp will first clean up the amp, then it will get quieter. If you want a smooth change in volume with no change in tone, put the volume block after the amp.

FM9 Headphones output extremely loud - Ear protection

Yes, it depends on the impedance and sensitivity of the headphones. Fractal gear can drive 300 ohm headphones pretty well, so you have to be careful with lower impedance cans like the ATH-M50's. They get crazy loud quick.

CPU and memory probably. I don't think you'll notice much difference if your presets don't use a ton of CPU. If the current preset is very high CPU, Fractal Bot operations can go really slowly.

    Stereo Pitch Effects

True, it won't be exactly the same, but close enough for many purposes. If you use the preamp sim in the cab block and introduce non-linear behavior it will be even more different pre vs post.

    Stereo Pitch Effects

If you put the pitch block after the cab block and adjust the high and low cut filters in the pitch block to match those in the cab block, the end result will be the same.
  20. mr_fender

    Stereo Pitch Effects

Yes, if you want both cabs to be used for both channels, you'll need to add a second cab block and select those same IRs in that block as well. You'd set the input mode in one block to Left Only and hard pan the cabs Left. In the other, you'd select Right Only input and pan the cabs hard...
  21. mr_fender

    Stereo Pitch Effects

No, you'd have a mono signal that is twice as loud. The only way to keep the stereo image intact is to hard pan the cabs. When the cab block is set to Stereo input, cabs 1 and 3 are fed by the Left input channel and cabs 2 and 4 are fed by the right input channel. They must be kept separate...

    Mackie Studio Monitor as FRFR

One of your reverb blocks is also set to 100% wet in series. if you turn that block on it will sum to mono again. The wet input to the reverb algorithms is mono. The dry signal keeps the stereo image, but the wet does not. For full stereo thru reverb, you'll need to use two reverb blocks in...

Low Cut Frequency - Late to the party...

Depends on the amp. Low cut before the amp is a good way to get rid of flabbiness in the distortion, but can sometimes lead to thin sounds. 700 Hz is pretty high, but if the end result sounds good and fits the mix, go with it.
  29. mr_fender

    New Input 1 Gain Parameter

Input gain at 0.18 means your sending only 18% of your guitar's signal to the grid (about -15 dB). You've probably dialed in too much gain in the amp and drives. Post the preset.

[not possible] Okay, I'll say it... a second Amp block!

IIRC, the MIN LATENCY oversampling option on the III allows you to use the simpler oversampling method that is already used by the FM3. Dual amp blocks would require even further reduction of quality on the FM3 and Cliff said that wasn't going to happen.

    Interface/junction box for FM3

Yeah, wire up a custom patch panel on your board. You just need Ins and Outs for going to and from the FM3. When you want to use the board without the FM3, insert short patch cables between those jacks instead. If you wanted to get fancy, you could wire the jacks to a switch for internal...

    Wish Headphone Volume Safety Feature

The 0 dB line in the Out block meters corresponds to -12 dBFS, IIRC. In theory, if the preset is properly leveled to that line, there should be no more than 12 dB of headroom available for loud peaks. That's a bit more than twice as loud coming from the speakers or headphones. If the preset...
  41. mr_fender

Pressing 2 foot switches at the same time

Also, the hold function works differently on the bottom right switch (#6) because of the MLM Combo feature. That is likely what is messing with it. If you don't use the Master Layout Menu, you can turn off that MLM Combo feature.
  49. mr_fender

Pressing 2 foot switches at the same time

You can use a Control Switch instead. Assign the control switch to the bypass modifier of both the Vol/Pan and Wah blocks and in one of the modifiers swap the START and END values. That will toggle them opposite each other with just one switch.

Having the Axe Fx II Mark I… crazy to consider buying a Boss SE-70 or VF-1?

Waste of money IMHO. The Axe II is superior in every way. I can't speak to the SE-70, but the noise floor of the VF-1 is terrible. It hissed like a pissed off cat. I had one for a couple years for effects with my old Boogie Triaxis and 2:90 rig. The effects were pretty good for the time...

    Input gain vs Mix?

What cable to use for studio monitors?

    What is this glitchy sound?

You'll get much better performance if you use the ASIO drivers and monitor directly from the FM9. If your input latency in Ableton is 36.3 ms, I can't image that is much fun to play live through.

  60. mr_fender

    What is this glitchy sound?

Issue with Delay Not Working [solved]

Yeah make sure phase reverse is set to none for any stereo effects you put in front of the amp. The default input mode for the Amp block is Sum L+R, so if one channel is phase reversed, it will cancel out when summed to mono.
  72. mr_fender

Wish Enhanced ToneMatch block : EQ match + Reverb match

Would be cool, but Tone Matches are not long enough to capture longer reverb tails. The Tone Match block creates UltraRes IRs, which are 170 ms in length. Even FullRes IRs max out at 1.37 seconds long, which is still too short for longer reverb tails.

Step by step instruction for Dummies to synchronise Tap Tempo between FM9 and FM3

Fractal gear does not use a beat clock, so there is no internal "downbeat" to synchronize to. The tempo of the unit is just a measured repeating period. Alternative functions for external FS in different layouts?

No. Stand In Switches are global assignments. The only exception is assigning them to a Per-Preset Placeholder, which would allow you to change the functions per preset.
  80. mr_fender

    Pure volume Boost pedal?

Depends on what you are trying to achieve. Are you trying to boost the level going into the amp to drive it harder, or are you trying to boost the final tone louder to be heard better in the mix, like a solo boost? If it's the latter, you'll definitely want to boost the signal after the Amp.

    Help with Input Gain?

Input Gain is a gain multiplier control. The default is 1.0 or 1x the signal level (unity gain). The minimum of 0.1 would be 1/10th the signal level (-20 dB) and the maximum 10.0 would be 10x the signal level (+20 dB).
