FM3 Firmware Version 3.01

I would be surprised if it did. Every time the FM3 is turned on it boots itself up fresh, initializes to a clean slate, then loads the last preset you were using. I don't imagine anything other than firmware and settings changes which you explicitly save should getting persisted, so I don't see what could be causing the firmware itself to become less stable via time. If it was just being left on for a long time, yes I could see there being memory leaks or things where that causes problems eventually, but not after a power cycle
Sounds more like a cable or hardware problem to me.

I had the same problem - I've had my unit since the middle of October and the footswitch lock-up started early on. At first I thought it was a simple firmware issue, that would be addressed, but as new updates came the problem got worse (so I don't think it was related to firmware at all). Finally it got so bad that the footswitches would lock after only a few minutes of use and after a power recycle would refreeze moments after restart. Let the unit rest overnight and things would be normal again for a while but after a time footswitches would freeze up again. Only the footswitches were affected on both the FM3 and the FC6. I disconnected the FC6 but the freezing footswitches still occurred.
Here's the kicker - I sent the unit to Fractal and they reported back that they could NOT get the unit to freeze up - I'm thinking that the 3 or 4 day rest in the shipping box may have something to do with the failure to reproduce the anomaly. I didn't hear anymore for a few days and then...

"I know it's been a few days since we last spoke & just wanted to touch base with what's going on with your unit.
I resoldered the connectors for the F/S strip to ensure they are getting a good connection & I also re-downloaded the 3.01 FW onto the unit in case there was a glitch in the code,
I left the unit running with an FC 12 connected to be sure that there is some sort of load on the unit & throughout the day yesterday tested all footswitches to make sure they are not freezing up at all, I also swapped out the bottom FS board that hold the magnetization for switching.
At this point the unit is functioning as it should & I will be getting it ready to be shipped back."

I'm waiting with bated breath! Fingers crossed.
Well unit is back from Fractal (Tues. 1/19) - Hooked it up and all seemed well for about an hour of play time. Okay fingers still crossed. Got a bit busy so didn't get back till this morning (Thur. 1/21) - Turn unit on, press one footswitch, and now all footswitches are frozen again (no FC6 connected). Power cycle and switches are back - But for how long (it's 9:15 AM?) - (It's now 9:21AM) just been using the looper, switching back and forth Record, Play, Erase hit Stop and all footswitches are frozen again. It,s now 9:28AM tried another Power Cycle and unit opens on main layout, hit one switch and footswitches are frozen again. Right away try another Power Cycle and footswitches are working again, but for how long is anybody's guess (Never mind guessing it's 9:35Am and we are frozen again). I do so love the sounds I'm getting with the FM3 but I don't see how I can rely on this unit ever again. Just to be clear, all other functions (with and without the editor open) work perfectly, it's only the footswitches that are affected. Very sad camper here I feel completely screwed, to have this happen after a year on the waiting list is just awful!

Wow! Fractal is on this! It looks like all will be well in the end. Thanks for the support Fractal, it is appreciated.

I am starting to have the button freeze issue as well. Guys that have had this happen, what steps did you do to fix it? simply contact fractal support and they fix the hardware, or is it a software thing?

I just had one freeze with 3.01

Not sure if it’s related to a certain sequence of stomps with some system/presets settings, but 3.01 has stabilized the unit a lot... hopefully they can catch all the remaining bugs that cause these freezes

This iteration of fw is much more stable than when I had it originally on 1.x. Freezes in the editor and unit for me started happening again yesterday, however. It seems as if whenever you take the CPU to the limit in a preset; even if you attempt to "fix it"; you are screwed. Best to clear the preset and start over from what I have seen.

FWIW: this behavior was ridiculous on 1.x. As in it happened for me pretty much most of the time I used it. This go round is much better.

I hope I'm wrong but wasn't that reported in the fx3 forum? I haven't seen this being discussed in the fm3 forum which makes me think we may get it later
