Sun shield for the FM9, suggestions?

Good point - it would be a good idea to add a little extra weight to the base just in case. I seem to recall that the last time I used it I had a separate mic stand set up behind me... If you were just protecting the FM9, you could clamp it down low

Just had a "eureka" moment with PAF pickups

Main point I was trying to make with this post is that you chase every minutiae detail of tone... upgrade the pots, caps, shielded cable, bridge, nut, and even the type of glue used in the tenon joint. None of these details have as big of an impact as the pickups by a long mile. Are there...

What is that one piece of gear you wish you never sold?

I had a 70's lawsuit-era Ibanez SG double neck in the early 80's before they became a big name. I just thought it was some Gibson knock-off and sold it because it was big and heavy. It wasn't until I was recently looking through an old photo album that I realized what i had.

How do you all fatten a Plexi patch

    FM9 travel cases?

one thing to consider is I'll bet it's a lot less likely to be stolen out of your car or whatever if you have it stored in a case that doesn't look like it costs a lot... people aren't as likely to grab a bag that just looks like it's got a bunch of cables in it
  15. Colorado Axeman

Nothing fancy, but I wrap mine in a towel and put it in a small, soft-sided nylon travel bag that's just the right size to fit. There's room for the pedals and cables on top.

This is crazy. Where are you playing gigs? Everyone is using modelers these days. I've played probably a hundred gigs since 2017 and no venue/sound engineer has ever told me that I can't use my modeler. Most of them prefer it because it's less EQ tweaking for them. They better get with the...

Favorite stock cab for Plexi JM45Brit Marshall tones?

103 is the winner. The York Audio Hiwatt 4x12 Fred mix is very, very close to it but has a bit more upper mid 'sizzle' to the overdrive that is eliminated with the 103. I tried both 131 and 132 and they were both good, too.

I'm kinda sold on using an Xotic Super Clean as an "always on" pedal before my FM9.

This is interesting. I bought mine used so didn't have the manual. It seems contrary to my actual experience though... when I use it in front of my FM9 it darkens the tone and seems to cut the highs, not boost them. So, I guess if you have both the high mid boost and high cut on you are...
