Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 12.09

Thanks a lot for the firmware update! But whats going on with the petrucci rig? This patch doesnt seem to be updated in this release. The JP2C model is not being used. Its kinda weird because the JP2C model is available for quite a while and I believe this is actually the second presets...

    Focal shape 65?

Well I was unable to compare side by side but the 65 obviously has a bigger driver. Another difference is the passive radiator compared to the ported design of the Neumann. So the 65 handles the bass differently for these technical reasons. And it shows in my room. Bass is tight and clear with...

AFIII Petrucci Rig Demo Track Breakdown

Well, when the presets for FW 11 were released, I noticed the amp for this preset was still the mark IV ;-). As far as I know there were no updates to the factory presets since november 19. So please share your preset that would be awesome!!

    Axe-Fx III Factory Presets

Great, thanks, I always love to try some updated presets. I do wonder if the Petrucci rig factory preset was updated. Because the first thing I noticed was that this preset doesnt actually use his signature amp model. Thats a bit odd right? A bit of a bummer to me; I was looking forward to...

    Cab block pre amp question

thanks yes im aware of cutting individual cab slots. Im using those. ah ok so even if the pre amp is set to none (off), the 'global' high low cut on the pre amp page is still active.? so its what I tought, I AM cutting both individual slots and 'globally' at thesame time.

    Cab block pre amp question

Hi, if I set the pre amp to none, I assume the pre amp is off, correct? I ask because Im confused about hi cut low cut setting in the first cab menu of axe edit, versus settings in the pre amp menu. I want to rule out that im using double cutting settings in both menus by mistake. Thanks

    Focal shape 65?

My search is over...the shape 65s are wonderful. No issues in my small studio. Smooth, tight and detailed. Comfortable to listen to. Fantastic, super happy. I tried Adam A7X, Neumann KH120 and Mackie XR 624, HR 624 and HR 824. My previous set was the yamaha HS7. Cheers!

    Focal shape 65?

Hi, any focal shape users? How do you like those? I like the passive radiator design for supposedly tighter bass. Good time or terrible time to buy Axe-Fx II?

Well, lets put it this way, its definitely not a good time to sell the II, thats for sure. In the Netherlands there are many units on the market that are not being sold. I paid 2600 euro for a new XL only a couple of years ago, and in terms of financial value this looks like my worst...

In the Spirit of NAMM Anouncements (FAS reactive load box)

Ok now Im getting somewhere, thank you! So I assume the accuracy of the simulated load (in terms of technology used) becomes less relevant to the sound if i set the attenuator at low reduction settings.
  36. O

In the Spirit of NAMM Anouncements (FAS reactive load box)

So what you are saying is that an attenuator is a loadbox with stepped load settings, right? These devices are essentially thesame?
  37. O

In the Spirit of NAMM Anouncements (FAS reactive load box)

thats another interesting idea! So Rex, my assumption is wrong? If I set the attenuator at 50% for example, the attenuator will take 50% of the load and the real cab the rest? Cheers!
  38. O

In the Spirit of NAMM Anouncements (FAS reactive load box)

This is very good news! If I understand correctly, the load of an attenuator only works when volume is reduced to zero. At any other setting of volume reduction, the load of the attenuator is not working. The cab will take the load. Am I right? This would confirm my hunch. I have no technical...

Probably stupid question on connecting Line out from real amp (Mark V) into AXE FX 2 XL

Interesting! I also have mark V and axe XL. I have been thinking about selling the XL for a long time. I only use its IIc+ models, an IR and a delay. So axe has more power than I need. More importantly, I have been struggeling big time with the models. If I sell the axe I can get a recifier...

Axe Fx II as an audio interface - what are your impressions ?

you need to set the buffer in the axe fx hardware (IO menu) thesame as the buffer in your DAW. Otherwise you might get disastrous performance. Since the driver hasnt been updated since 2014, you could try the asio4all driver. I have better results that way. Cheers!

Thanks Mikko, I have read this statement, and thats what my question is all about... To repeat: Im sure the FAS load is good, but A. it's not available yet and B. do i need one? My Mark V amp has a slave out. So maybe an attenuator is enough for me? Or maybe using an ISO cab as a load is a...

In the Spirit of NAMM Anouncements (FAS reactive load box)

Thanks everybody for responding, and your patience. I know what a loadbox is. I know that its not easy to simulate the behaviour of a real speaker that way. And thats exactly what Im trying to avoid; by keeping my real cab hooked up as a load and using an attenuator instead. So I would like...
  46. O

In the Spirit of NAMM Anouncements (FAS reactive load box)

Well, if I choose an attenuator, I do need to hook up my cab. So what is the differrence between the two, in technical terms?
  47. O

In the Spirit of NAMM Anouncements (FAS reactive load box)

No dude, as I have explained, Im using the slave out...so I dont need a loadbox (or an attenuator) to create a line signal. I do need one of them to silence my cab....so my question is which is the better option?
  48. O

In the Spirit of NAMM Anouncements (FAS reactive load box)

I think I can answer my own question...the more I attenuate the signal, the more it functions as a loadbox. And the FAS load should be better at simulating a real cab's behaviour...Am I right?
  49. O

In the Spirit of NAMM Anouncements (FAS reactive load box)

Hello! What is the benefit of this loadbox compared to an attenuator, such as SPL reducer? I have a Mesa Mark V, which has a slave out for direct recording (+ using IR after recording). I could use an attenuator for silent recording, obviously connected to my real cab for the load. I dont need...

  66. O

    More routing options

Well, if I record the dry signal, I would have to re- amp. It's an extra step compared to my suggested routing option. I would like to record my distorted sound minus reverb and delay, because these effects usually need adjustments at the mixing stage. Cheers!
  67. O

    More routing options

Hello, I would like to see some more routing options in the future. For example it would be great to be able to monitor with delay and reverb, and record without these effects. It's a pity that we only have wet and completely dry to choose from. Re-amping could be a workaround, but it's easier...
