Those are the only two options, on the AXE either SPDIF/AES IN or AUTO. The Focusrite is either Internal or SPDIF. When trying to set the Focusrite to SPDIF (slave) it switches to 44.1 and will not lock to the AXE which is set to AUTO.

As far as creating patches that work in the mix, I've spent many hours coming up with great sounding presets on their own but have not used a single one while recording because they don't work in the mix. I'm going to start working up sounds while playing with different tracks even if they don't...

I gave up on different speaker systems sounding the same. They don't and probably never will. (famous last words) I like my headphones the best so I'm going to buy a set for everybody in the audience and since I'm the whole audience I have already accomplished this goal. ;)

Issue running Logic Pro X and Fractal

you're somehow sending midi out to the axe via usb. check midi preferences and any midi tracks you might have. what interface are you running? Might be a driver issue. Check the i/o >over to midi page. make sure that USB MIDI MODE is off..it's down a ways in the menu.

Friedman ASC 12 question

Be sure you are not running a CAB in the AXE and a CAB emulation in your speaker if it has that. There is a resonant bump in the low end in a guitar speaker and if you run two cab emulations it will create a lot of low end. Use good headphones directly out of the AXE as a reference to figure out...

Do you record in mono or stereo?

I re-amp everything in stereo. I can always narrow the stereo field in the DAW but to widen it takes filtering that I don't like or a delay. The AXE has a delay in processing dependent on the patch which I use a plug-in in Logic to compensate for.

It can be confusing trying to route everything while reamping but the flexibility is very cool when you get it working. Make sure everything is set to 48Khz sample rate as the AXE is fixed at that rate and mismatches cause audio glitches. Good luck!

I tried. Sorry I couldn't help. I'd just go analog in and use a re-amp box. I built one for this purpose but haven't tried it yet as the USB reamping works well since I figured out the latency issue. I was stuck in Windows hell for 10 years but after I retired I'm all Mac.

Fast Track Pro with Axe-Fx II XL+: bad idea?

Just hook them both up and see if they fight with each other. I run the FX and a Focusrite 18i8 and it is a nice way to go after to get the ins and out figured out. The FTP should be fine if the drivers are up to date on the AVID side of things.

Can someone please help me with S/PDIF?

USB (universal serial bus) can carry digital audio. You don't need SPDIF. The AXE's USB bypasses your audio interface and goes straight into your computer.

Another unanswered question of the universe is where does usb audio get/send/receive it's sync? If the Focusrite is master then does the USB sync the axe? Can we trust everybody to play nice with each other? Wild West Audio Productions.

I you use USB it will show up in your DAW digitally and you can monitor your DAW with your interface. Don't think of it as replacing your interface. It is in addition to your interface adding a few more ins and outs just for the AXE.

Sounds like a feedback loop? Maybe when the interface loses the spdif clock it switches to another in or out? Or the the related software does? Just thinking out loud.

Quick attempt at TC1210. I haven't ever used one and am not really familiar. Only listened to a demo but thought it was a cool effect. This uses 1 chorus, 2 4x chorus, two panners and two delays. If nothing else it is a fun swirly preset. There are 4 scenes. Made on FXII Mk 2 with Quantum...

There's so many moving parts it's not easy to duplicate pedals. I tried to duplicate the 1210 got kinda close and then got lost in space....o_O

Good headphone suggestions

I’ve been using them forever and others don’t seem to be worth the extra money but my ears are used to them. I use them to help as reference while mixing. I think my son has the HDs and I’m curious so I’ll A/B them tomorrow. Best to try them out yourself obviously. Don’t know if there’s response...

Good headphone suggestions

I've always used AKG K240s. They are a lot cheaper but I don't know if I'm missing something that the Sennheisers have going for them. I see the HDs recommended a lot. Being a cheap bastard I easily spend the $69US for the AKGs instead of dropping 200-300pr.

This would have been a good link to post here.. https://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/understanding-all-the-different-gain-controls.95018/ So the Trim is a attenuation/gain control placed after the "Input Gain" control to be able to set levels without changing the bright cap's effect.

Al, I just was trying out FracTool 2.97 and when selecting Amps Compare tab the program vaporizes. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I have little experience with it specs are in my signature
