Studio Flow. How are you using your Fractal Audio gear in your setup?

I use it on every session so it's a very simple setup. I have it hooked up to my RME interface. I have output 1 going to 2 channels of my interface so I can easily record in mono or stereo. I have output 2 going to another channel of my interface to record DI's. I also have a reamp box setup...

Preset switching gap

I have a fm9 and axe fx 3. Definitely notice a longer gap when switching presets on the fm9(so smooth on the axe3). Any way to improve this? Thanks!!

Should I get this as an alternative to Axe FX II?

I ordered one a few weeks ago and it shipped out within a day or two! Recording the AX8 is perfect as long as you have a decent interface. Your solo should be fine until you have the cash to upgrade to atleast a two channel interface(the 2i4 is always a great budget option).

Advise?

I meant he shouldn't have to be riding his gain if his levels are just all of the place. Of course riding it for solos and stuff is nice. But he shouldn't have to be just having to pay attention to how much his guitar level is going to change every single time he changes a patch. I've done live...

Advise?

It's not the sound guys job to ride your guitar level all night. But before you go, I would just go through the presets and make sure the volumes are close enough. Other than that, you sound like you should be good to go!

Never had any problem with mine(just running windows defender, used to use avast and avira). But imo norton is really terrible(cpu hog, a lot of false positives) and I would definitely recommend getting something else.

Best routing(output1 + 2)

Yeah that's how I just figured out it sounds best with his setup. It sounds so good through the fx loop. It coming through 2 jvm's was pretty intense haha. Now that I figured out this better routing with axe edit, I need to go change his axe fx to the same way, much easier.

I run it the same way and there isn't any settings you need to change. Since its a frfr cab you can leave the cab sims on

AX-8 Price

Ok quick question. Already have an axe fx 2 but want this for a smaller travel rig. I run the axe fx 2 with output 1 going to foh, and output 2(fx send) running to my marshalls with no cab sims on. Can I still do this with the AX8?

Windows 10 Kills For Audio

lol at the early posts in this thread. But on a serious note, Windows 10 has been great for me so far! Upgraded my studio rig(i7 4770k,32 gigs of ram, ssd) and its been flawless so far. Pro tools and all plugins have been working great so far! Gaming has been nice too

Try starting up logic with the novation software turned off. If everything is fine then you know the culprit.

Tweaking tones for recording

Yeah what adam said up there. I normally use totally different patches for live and recording. Cabs especially sound so much different. Just experiment until you find something you like! Personally the friedman hbe always records great for high gain stuff.

On pro AxeFx users and rigs...

Yeah I'm in a jimi hendrix tribute band and the axefx 2 is our main sound, but we still have 2 marshall full stacks on stage for that more authentic look! Just all personal preference.

FOH says AXE FX 2 sounds amazing.

Yep i hear this all the time. Normally eq always stays flat unless the room/pa sucks. Always just straight xlr out!

Getting the best signal to FOH?

I've just always used xlr's from output 1 and never had any noise issues! have to use output 1 since i have output 2 going to my 2 stacks.

Was using windows 7 and it ran great. Same with my other machine and windows 8. Never had any issues. But either will work just fine!
