whats going to be in 6.03?

Isn't all this handled by the X/Y parameters? In the reverb block wouldn't you have the short reverb as X and the long reverb as Y?

I don't use x/y because you can't change between them with modifiers

it's really about my approach to preset building and how x/y switching doesn't really fit well within it

also - although I've not tried it in a while - in the past I've found that some x/y change overs are not as seemless as I'd like
unbypassing a reverb seemed to sound smoother to me

EDIT: I think I need to add here that I think the whole x/y thing is a really cool piece of functionality..
it just doesn't work well for me personally

Oh man... I was thinking about buying a real "Dirty Shirley" Friedman amp. This would be great (along with the D13)

I was also eyeing the Dirty Shirly weith intend to buy, now I can't wait to get a DS in v7.0, especially since the other Friedman sims turned out awesome.
If a Dirty Shirly is in v7.0 I´ll have to bring Young Lust back on a set list "Uuuhhh I need a Dirty Shirly, uuuhh I need a dirty girl" cue solo...

I am rewriting the reverb. I already have much of it done. The room stuff in the cab block is going away and will be part of the reverb block. The reverb block now has two distinct parts: early and late. The early part allows you to choose different shapes and craft highly realistic (or very artificial, if desired) early reflections. The late reverb has been improved with three bands of decay.

The tape delay algorithm will be extended to the chorus and flanger blocks.

Of course there will be new amp and drive models as well as other improvements.

Cliff, you are the man.
Your continued efforts in keeping the Axe Fx II 10.000 miles ahead of anything else are much appreciated. We´re spoiled having this superb product and these updates - thanks man

Well, I don´t disagree with you that Axe-Edit perhaps needs to be shapen up. But I disagree when you states that "the most important thing is that we can edit on the computer... bla bla bla". I hardly ever use the computer for editing, because problems and bugs may lie in the computer so for me I just skip those concerns. So, important? Yes. Absolute priority (= MORE important than new amps or whatever)? I respectfully disagree.

But we already have many working amps and not a workable editor. Too many bugs and problems. Of course it is possible to edit on the hardware but it is so much easier and user friendly to edit your sounds on the computer. So why not make use of that? That we don't do it is just because Axe Edit not trustworthy.

"Lots of good tones", yes, but like a true low gain amp? No. Play through some real, vintage low gain amps, read the schematics to see what they're actually doing, & then you may want to re-access how you feel.
I'd be extremely surprised if you felt that turning down a high gain amp's parameters (including the guitar's volume) came even close. Hence the continued favouring of "low gain" amps to this day by many great players. NOT of the widlly widdly variety, of course.

Not the same of course. Reason for asking is that vintage guys usually never even bother to try. Think i remember Clapton with SLO 100. Higain amp, but still sounded great.

For the record: I don't read schematics. I play. Wrong or right does not matter as long as it sound good. That why i got Axe and not still stuck with my old tube amps :D

Peace

if 7.0 contains a lot of fx enhancements...
I'd hope for the ability to have more extreme settings in the phaser block
maybe even the possibility to have lower LFO rates..
also I think the phaser is a little too 'nice' and too 'clean and tidy'
most real phaser pedals are actually dreadful, noisy and generally crap.. and they really chew up the audio and add noise and junk in the background
which is why they sound so cool...

Because i work in a guitarshop. Were i work this is a fact.

Can't speak for you and other places. Please do not get offended in any way. It's not meant to be offending. I'm on vacation, so i don't spend my time arguing peoples point of veiw, including my own. Happy hollidays.

OK - enjoy.

I managed to get a really nice clean / very low gain tone from the 5153Red and VH4
I know this is not 'the real thing' cos it's in the Axe-II..
but I kinda see where Kriig is coming from here..
does it matter what you use? as opposed to what the final result sounds like..

anyways... the cleaned up tone I got from these monsters was surprisingly nice..
all I'm saying I guess is that there are some possibllities [that are maybe not so obvious] that can be quite surprising and worth exploring / exploiting

I agree.
There are already more amps in the Axe than I personally could ever need in several lifetimes :).
So fixing up the Axe Edit would be number one priority for my needs.

It is my understanding, and maybe someone from FAS can correct me here if I am wrong, but with respect to development and programming Cliff mainly concentrates on the firmware and modeling upgrades and others on the staff are responsible for the Axe-Edit upgrades and bug resolution. I also remember him saying he was in the process or had just hired a new developer to assist in the Axe-Edit arena. So in other words, the development on firmware 7.0 really doens't directly impact Axe-Edit fixes.

Yeah, that sounds consistent with development of software compliments to hardware in general - you have specialists focus on each aspect independently. It would be impossible for one person, or team, to properly develop everything. Unless you're Tony Stark, of course.

are there some whole new fx blocks coming or "only" reworked old fx or new presets to existing ones ?

We're getting dedicated VH Reverb, Delay, Phaser & Flanger Blocks personally tweaked by Eddie, Ted Templeman & Donn Landee.
These blocks will each have the exact settings for every song from VH1 thru 1984!!
