OwnHammer - Vox AC30, Mesa 412, Mesa 212 - The Justin York Collection Volume 1

Glad everybody is digging these, Justin and I went hardcore on this library and I'm so happy to finally have it out for everybody. Mr. York put a couple raw clips together of the VX30 212 in combination with the Quantum Class-A 30W TB, which marry perfectly to my ears. What do you guys think?

Also posted this up in the Recordings sub-forum for good measure.

Thanks again to everyone for your support, it is always greatly appreciated! :)

Ownhammer + Justin York = The Dynamic Duo :)
Excellent demonstration and a perfect fit!

Not to bring the mood down by complaining but this kept me from purchasing. I don't have cab lab and don't want to buy, glad I read the fine print before I purchased.

I totally get that. Just remember, for less than the price of a used Boss pedal, you're able to load premium IRs of world class cabinets and create your own mixes to perfect your own sound. Cab Lab 3 is worth its weight in gold and is an amazing tool to have and use for any IR library.

Personal choice! Doesn't bring the mood down for us, I have it, love it , wouldn't be without it !

Would the old Axe O Matic program work to convert these to use in the AF2? I know the IR's wouldn't be UR and it'd be difficult to make custom mixes but could I convert the individual IR's to high resolution IR's?

It's not that I wouldn't like to have cab lab but I am one of those musicians on a tighter than used to be budget these days. The AF2 is the single biggest equipment purchase I've ever made, I have had it for over 3 years now and i love it, dont regret a penny. Unfortunately for a while the budget's not just there for cab lab AND IR packs. I know it could be argued that there's plenty quality IR's stock but that's probably the biggest struggle I've had is finding IR's that I connect with.

A word from Kevin:

On the OwnHammer website, there are two conversion utilities in the Free section (Axe-O-Matic and aomDSP) that you can try to install on your machine, as well a free legacy library you can use files from to determine if the output (which is standard/hi-res) is functionally accepted by your Axe-Fx version. If those files convert and load, then the files in the Fractal.zip from all OwnHammer commercial libraries will load in the same way also.

I'm curious to see how you like your U2 presets while using the VX30 L 58-IN CLOTH IR.

And I'm glad you're digging the Mesas! Which one are you preferring at the moment?

Those are all great mixes, and I put them all in my Axe-Fx. I really like the 212 mix and your 412 Mix 3 in particular. Which amp models have you been mainly using?

I love it - Justin what ir did you use for 3. sample - it's a f.... great Blues sound? :eagerness:
And I would love to see those preset settings for that great tone?

Yea, perfect Vox sound! I'll have to play with the mesa impulses a bit more, as I havent bonded with any Mesa before, but the Vox is instant goodness!

Thanks a lot! The IR for the last part of the Vox clip is the OH JY-VX30-212 L 57C3-121

The amp settings are (Class-A 30W TB) Input Drive 3, Bass 4, Mid 5, Treb 6, High Cut 2.5 with all other settings at default on the Basic page. In advanced parameters, I set the PWR Amp Hardness to 5 and the Speaker Drive to 2.

The overdrive is the Rat Dist in the Drive Block. Drive at 5, Tone at 2.83, and level at 5.75.

I used a tele in the neck position for that part.

I'm so glad you're digging the Vox! I've been loving that cab a lot, as well. So much fun to play!

The Mesas are very different animals from each other, so one might feel better to you in particular. Also, this is a classic example where finding the right vector will make your tone come to life. Try keeping the same mic spacing (position 3 for instance or whichever one you tend to gravitate towards) and audition different vectors to see if one of them jumps out at you. Each speaker sounds different as well, so you may need to explore a little bit to find the one that best suits what you do.

Man, that's so cool, and I can't wait to see your video! I've been using your 2x12 mix with the Friedman HBE and the Dizzy V4 Slvr 3 tonight, and I'm really digging it.
Hey Justin, here's a video... Back in 2009 when I recorded/mixed that song I had to use lot of post processing to make the guitars bigger and have them fitting in, now with the Axe and your cabs, without any post-processing, it sounds much better :
