It's exactly this ... the in-your-face sound.
With the FW10, I don't hear the reverb, it only appears at the end of the sound... I'm exaggerating a little but that's the feeling I have, it doesn't envelop my sound as much while I play.
I mainly use the "mid-room", maybe this change is specific to this model.
Have you tried turning down the "Pre-Delay" on your reverb block? I found that firmware 10 increased this value on my main reverb blocks after I installed it.

There were many changes to the Reverb block.

Some required resetting the block, some do not.

At least these 2 items would potentially affect your presets:
● Improved Reverb block. Reverbs based on real spaces have more immersive and natural sounding reflections.
● Improved early reflections. As a result, the default values of Early Level and Late Level for the models have been updated. Existing presets are automatically updated to the new values. Audition as necessary. The Early and Late Level parameters have also been removed from the Basic page of the Reverb block.

I'm pretty sure it was this update that changed the pre-delay setting for me, possibly in combination with the old algorithm (Rich Hall) being converted to a new algorithm (Mechanic's Hall).

Added “Pre-Delay Tap” parameter to Reverb block. This selects the input to the reverb engine. When set to OUTPUT the behavior is as before. > When set to INPUT the initial delay is absent. This allows more natural “Echo-Verb” sounds. This is now the default for these types of models and existing presets are automatically updated.

Anyone else losing their FM3 -edit USB connection after a bit? If I disconnect and reconnect, it works again but after a while, loses connection again.
On mac
Yes I have this on MacOS (14.7.1) and it seems persistent.
After a couple of minutes FM3 Edit loses connection and eventually I get this message:

Screenshot 2025-05-16 at 22.36.10.png

Rebooting my Mac doesn't fix this, I have to restart the FM3 to be able to reconnect.
And then after some time its looses connection again.

My second post here only , but after this firmware, I feel that NOW the FM3 is sounding what I expect.. Just to be honest and coming from a Axe Fx II , I was not happy with the FM3 in terms of sound. I was in fact going to sell it, and go for the Ampero Stage ( for my needs is more than enough ) but after this new firmware, is a keeper. Since I installed I didn't edit nothing and preset 101 Triple Crest ( Hollyyyyy Sh""#T ) Perfect!
The Friedman's are now sounding wayyyy better , the Spawn amps are now way better and even some Brits. This at least is what I feel, but im not an expert , just a guy in Lisbon that loves Digital and Analog Guitar gear.

It seems to be something else. I rebooted my laptop an FM3, everything was fine for a while. I tried to redo stuff I did before, like loading specific presets. Communication was lost again, but I found out my FM3 locks up when loading 244: Horrorfest FM3. I still have sound, but the controls on the unit itself also do not respond.

I am using the latest factory presets.

The CPU is too high on that preset. Try deleting it and replacing it with the new version.

Hey Paul, what CPU are your laptop controlled presets at?

My single kitchen sink preset was way too slow changing scenes under FW 10b showing 78% CPU, from 5 Pin DIN MIDI, Editor via USB, and the FP (like a couple of seconds slow, including with the Editor off and USB unplugged)?
70.5%, down from 74.5% laptop changes were smooth like prior to the update, no issues

Laptop sending out via Logic DAW and Behringer x air 18,midi splitter to a QC and my FM3 on different midi channels

With this update, my FM3 now sounds as good as my AxeFX3. The FM3 never sounded bad, it just didn't sound or feel the same. I have been throughly impressed with this update. Many thanks.

You have written about this several times. The new version of the editor does not work well with firmware 3.02. Just believe me. I have tried. Some parameter labels are not displayed well.
I'm repeating what is clearly stated in the editor release notes.

If it doesn't work you might want to raise the issue to @Michael Pickens.

Also, does the label prevent it from working or just add a bit of a complication? Labels mostly don't affect function.

Yes i know but i use only the editor for settings and one goes with the other ...
i understand your concerns with say windows update breaking an editor or compatibility,

as far as i know a newer editor can be used with older firmware, it doesn't have to match in that instance,
only when a brand new editor and new firmware comes out, you have to keep that in mind

so you won't be left in the dark with accessing/editing your device with older firmware, you can keep updating the editor (which will match OS updates should there be any issues) and still have access to your unit

i always update the editor first before doing the actual update, based on some of the comments on my FW10 video, some people have updated the firmware without the new editor, and don't see the new features (e.g pitch shift on reverbs)

you have quite a particular setup with essentially just using the FM3 for effects, if the new reverb algorithms are not to your liking, that's totally fine
you can stay with firmware 9 and always have access to an updated editor that can edit your device should the older version break for whatever reason

Had to wait a week to update as I’ve been on holiday, but can say the wait was well worth it. Having come from the Headrush world I can say that Fractal is in a different universe, let alone another planet when it comes to updates and customer satisfaction.
The Friedmans sound particularly good, as do the new compressors, a bit of tweaking required to get them just right I think.
I’ve noticed a couple of weird things with the reverbs. Most of my existing presets go into CPU overload when initially selecting them, which was expected. I’ve found that by selecting a different reverb then reselecting the original saved reverb block clears the CPU overload (just reselecting the original reverb block doesn’t). Also I’m finding that the reverbs are very prominent and I’m having to turn the mix down from about 10% to about 3-4% to get them to sit nice in the my mix which seems a bit odd. Anyone shed any light onto why this may be so before I change all my preset reverbs. Thanks.

Nice !
I don't know that !
Thanks a lot 🙏

Thanks, but I also updated to the new factory presets.

Problem is even worse now though: as soon as I load the Horrorfest FM3 preset, the unit locks up. Even without a laptop connected.

If the preset uses too much CPU I would expect a warning message and the sound to shut off.
But the opposite happens: I still have sound, but all buttons and other interface elements on the FM3 lock up and no longer respond.

Assuming you haven't read the whole thread? It's been discussed already a few times.

The Dispersion has charged. Higher values used a lot more CPU. Reselecting the type resets to the new default value which lowers the CPU use.

I'd suggest reading the Release Notes - there were many changes to Reverb. Especially certain types.
