Axe-Fx III Firmware 28.00 Release

Any plans to update the Brit pack with new cab room settings at some point? I went through a bunch of the presets today and the room settings were all slightly different from each other. The standard setting posted above sounded too "roomy" to me for the Brit stuff. Might just bump it down to 4-5% in the meantime.
Please ask in my vendors thread, let's not derail this one

I installed 28.00 firmware and went through a few presets and everything seemed fine at first.
Then I decided to try out each of the new compressors.

The first four worked fine, but when I clicked on dyna-comp classic the audio cut off completely. I looked at the Axe FXIII and all of the meters were locked on, full up. Selecting a different compressor did not help. No sound at all. I had to turn the Axe FXIII off and back on. It came back on but I have not tried it again yet.

Update: I just tried it again and it did exactly the same thing when I clicked on dyna-comp classic.

I am getting a lock up randomly, but not using the dynamicomp. It only seems to happen on a scene 1 or 2, when switching from any other scene. It doesn’t lock every time. On some occasions, it freezes for 30 seconds to a minute or so, then resumes. I am using the 1176 studio

I reported this back in an Axe Edit thread for the beta. For me it was happening on heavy CPU presets (75% and up). Will happen less as CPU reduces.

In my experience the problem is triggered by Axe Edit not the box. For me working from the front panel made this issue disappear. Try quitting Axe Edit and see if the crash happens.

I re-installed 27.03 and everything works fine. No lock ups. I left the new Axe Edit 1.14.11 installed, and it seems to be working fine with 27.03, So I don't think it's Axe Edit.

Before I gave up on 28.00 I deleted 4 blocks and got my CPU. around 70% and the Axe FXIII still locked up, no sound, and meters all stuck on full up, when I got to the dyna-comp classic. So I don't think it's CPU, although I did notice the new compressors seem to be increasing the CPU.

For me it has only happened once since 28.00 and Axe Edit 1.14.11. Reducing presets helped as well.

Never had it happen with Axe Edit shut down.

I see a lot of praise for the Marshalls, Friedmans, Stealths and other beasts. But the old 6G4 Super deserves some love. Here is a little quick demo with the new firmware. Tube Drive 5-knob with drive at 0.8. Optical Compressor + Modern VCA Compressor. Factory 1 #190 1x12 Carol-Ann CAB.

Awesome! Preset please 😊

I installed this firmware last night and just want to say that the new JFET Studio Compressor is what I always hoped a compressor could be. I use it after the Cab block in my clean tone. It compresses hard, but doesn't feel like it. I've had trouble finding settings that feel right when strumming chords and also sound full when playing single note runs, but this one does both effortlessly. Awesome!

Agreed. That’s the first one I tried, and it sounds killer. Nice work!

Hi Matt - I wasn’t using anything in a setlist. I turned on the axe FX on a preset that is not used by any setlist/referenced as a song and system settings and layouts had been wiped.
I will second this. I don't use the setlists feature at all (my life is simple), and my settings still got wiped by 28.

I just recreated them; it thankfully didn't take very long.

I can confirm this. Meters pegged and no sound. It doesn’t happen on all presets and no cpu usage issues

Hello everyone,
I don't know if this is directly related to this new firmware version but since installing it, I lost all the settings of my fc6 (all the settings of my layers and especially all the setlists and songs...).
So this is very weird and annoying and I have a big problem to INVESTIGATE.
Have you had similar problems or ideas to help me find the cause of the problem?
FYI under my fw28 system-fc backup
I had the same thing happen. Everything was blank on the scribble strips and no functionality. I found an old back up and installed it to get it working again. Lost all my setlists.... lesson learned, always include FC settings when backing up presets
