Try the Recto red modern with any butler driver. Roll back the bass on the driver, treble at 6ish, level at max or close to it...with the drive on the Recto at around 5 or 6ish, keep the drive on the...uh...tube driverSo I decided to take a little venture away from my ‘home’ amp (IIC+ Deep Bright) for a more modern sounding project I’m doing some session work for. My GOD the 5153 Stealth sounds good with this FW. It’s how I always wanted a Recto to sound but could never get them to. Ultra aggressive, tight, but so saturated you wonder if it’s even possible to go any further.
I usually use my own IR mix from a Traditional Recto cab and a 5150 III cab, but for a laugh I also put together a patch with both the trusty IIC+ and the 5153 going through their respective cabs. I think I saw paradise…
around 1.92 to 2 max. Thank me later..this fn changed my world. Also when I learned you need to keep the MV on those amps no higher than 3 too..they fall apart quick after that. To your other point, hell yes on the 5153. Just don't give up on the Recto yet...it is worth it brother
Shared a preset a while back to good reception ( unless the kind folks here just don't want to hurt my feelings) let me know and I'll send it your way
