FUZZ. One track of Triangle, one track of Ram's Head.

Is the Ram’s Head on the right track?

I love this tone, it’s nasty spitty like but in a clear register rather than blanketed as many of the tones in this area are. Well done.

Edit: for context. I’m going to have so much fun with the new fuzzy sweaters just in time for Christmas. Marketing slogan, “Gonna put that shit on everything!"

Ok something more "serious" and "interesting"

I have done a comparaison between my pedal and the one in the axe.

here they are, both at noon . (just the pedal got the volume at 6 to match the volume a little bit)

Pretty f'in close! The real one sounds a little darker, maybe just the tolerance of the tone pot... did you have the auto input impedance turned on?

Unsure if this is just a manifestation of my encroaching senility, I believe I may have coined the phrase
ECliffany™ many firmwares ago……….?! If so, glad it continues to be a relevant term in this space.
I think you may be right. I definitely read it somewhere before!

I use 4-cable method with my amps in my studio and Axe-FX direct for live these days. I haven't tried the live setup yet, but I had to check out the new fuzzes into the clean channel of my JP2C and I loved them. So thick and chewy, with a nice slobbery layer of spit on it. I think I stuck with the triangle version for the preset and raised the lo cut and lowered the hi cut to make it a bit more smooth and remove some of the mud. I'll give them a try for my direct live sounds when I have time. Really digging all of the drive improvements!

Ram's Head left, Triangle right. Both set to drive 9, tone 6, level 6. I had to pull out some high end in the DAW though. Wide Q about -3.4db at 3400k. And then it's rolled off starting at 7k.

Thanks for doing the comparison Mud ... Had one of the pedals in the early 80's going through a bad Peavey SS amp. Can't remember what exactly it sounded like but the one in the AxeFx sounds awesome enough to my ears ... will be doing some deep dives with it and relive a different time 🤘

Spent a little bit with the Ram's Head and Colorsound Booster for the "Comfortably Numb" solo, getting in the ballpark. The OG does that classic Gilmour thing where it doesn't really sound all that distorted listening to the isolated track, hard to get the edge of the notes to have that grit from the fuzz while keeping things sustaining and "clean" sounding.

There's the Electric Mistress flanger in front of the fuzz pedals, feeding into a HiWatt. The Hiwatt aspect is tricky, I can't remember when Gilmour started using that Alembic preamp in front of the HiWatts power section and who knows how he has that thing set.
