I prefer SM7 over SM57 as well and usually mix SM7, 121 and 184.
.. but I understand why they picked SM57, although I hope they'll add SM7 in future releases.

I don't understand why the mic names are not in the mic dropdown. I usually mix 57 with 121 - Is "ribbon" a 121? (probably I guess).
Edit: What's the condenser?

What mics are these specifically? They sound amazing!

I very much like the new Dynacabs - it‘s a game changer for me!
But i am not happy with the sound of the SM57 in the DynaCab, its to thin, sounds not like the real thing - like there is a high pass activated!
I am a long time broadcast engineer, working in professional ob vans and i do a lot of pop, jazz and classical recordings in different venues. So the SM57 is the main Mic for most Live Shows i see (and hear) before a guitar cab.
I have the pleasure to hear the sound isolated in the recording van with high end studio monitors and console in an acoustic treated environment and cant remember to hear a 57 before an amp that sounds that thin! Maybe the used one is broken?

Strange, I am not seeing that with the dynamic mic in the dynacab. It sounds very much like a 57 to me. It even has the typical low mid bump at around 110hz when close micing and goes away when you back the mic off and it gets thinner and more room when backed off, just like a real 57. The ribbon sounds like a typical 121 with it's smooth high end.

If you weren’t watching American television in the 1970s, you probably won’t understand it.

Sad America GIF
Only my rich friend across the street had cable then. We only had 3 channels one of which was French and the other 2 were CBC Canadian only content (ya know: Beachcombers n Hockey Night in Canada...), n the 3rd one suck'd cept for a few of my fav US shows: Barnaby Jones, Get Smart, Munsters and Partridge Family.

I didn’t have a television until I was 21 years old and my girlfriend brought one over.

Raised in a library, with a huge sound system playing cool era into fusion.

"Ancient Chinese secret"

Ah, k, thankyou.

My next question would be why keep the mics in a mic placement feature beta a secret but I know there's always a good reasons to their methods so I'll cease and desist on such questions.

Makes me wonder about the format... maybe dynacab data only supports 3 mics assumed to be dynamic/condenser/ribbon? 3rd-party dynacabs could maybe be captured with three different mics of same type that axfx would still display as dyn/condenser/ribbon even though those labels don't actually match the mics used.

The beta testers haver an alternate version of the Dyna-Cab data with the SM7 instead of the 57. I'm still awaiting more feedback.
Even for mk2 users ?
So, basically three mics are what we going to get until there’s an Axe IV if I understand correct (since you’re mentioning there’s no room for both types of dynamic and therefore no other mics i guess)?

It might be a question of NV memory set aside specifically for FW vs "future expansion" in the Mk II. The original III doesn't have future expansion, but Cliff has said "The firmware ROM [in the Mk II] is the same size and many times larger than what we are using."

So it might be that the current set of Dyna-Cabs are using some FW memory while Mark II, III, ... units could support more in the expansion memory, including 3rd party ones with mics/cabs of their choosing.

All pure speculation though!

when they're as good as these are, I'm fine with just these 3

Similar here. CBC and CTV/provincial content (NL). HNIC, SCTV, Beachcombers on CBC, Get Smart, Bizarre on CTV. Our small town didn’t cable cable until after I was gone, 1987. Ah, the good old days. I would have most certainly have chopped body parts off to have had an Axe Fx back then. Peavey and Traynor were pretty much the only options, unless you were rich and could afford a Fender.
