I dont use a amp or cab block. Some compression, verb and chorus. You can place a PEQ or EQ block for tone shaping.

Volume Block vs. Output Block Level? / Setup

I use the scene level sliders in the output block to level different scenes and boost solo. I look at the meter and balance other presets as closely as possible this way too.

I think one of the biggest things for me is now I dont have to worry about maxing out a kitchen sink preset - can do multiple presets and have song feature pull what you need. For instance, i compromise a bit on my piezo signal - now I can have it as a section and call it up whenever I want...

Best way to create a solo boost... go!

Scene volumes in the output tab works best for me. I have a separate scene for solos that i boost the slider for. Doesnt eat up any CPU for addition blocks

Mounting the FM3 to a flat board

I also an using some Duralock as shown above on the feet of the unit and it adheres wonderfully to the board. I thought it would come loose but no.

Recommend me the best solution to run the FM3 through?

studio monitors. Cheaper, and you can have stereo. I dont feel you need to spend a lot either. I have a set of M-Audio Bx8's that i have been using for years since i had the Ultra.

i'm in the camp of creating your own preset. I have yet to download one from the Axechange that I liked. And I definitely will not pay for one for the same reason. Get to know how the unit works and experiment. The rabbit holes of IRs andother things is too much for me. I might be getting...

New factory presets?

Most of the presets in my experience don't work for me either. You need to find an amp you like and then an IR that works. Adding stuff like delay, reverb, etc is easy but the core tone takes some time. I find that I need to roll off lows and highs in the cab block (I use direct tone - FRFR).

I have a computer (mac) but I cant run the axe edit software because I have an older Operating System. I'm sure you do a lot of work in axe edit, so i will it be worth it for me to follow along without it since i would be turning dials on the axe fx itself

Mini LCD wish - bigger text or bold

While the Kicktags would be a help, the dynamic ability of the FCs allows the user to change setups. so if one is doing so, you cant get away relying on the tags completely.

Damn UPS changed my delivery date to tomorrow. :( I think they screwed up. It was sent to the distribution center where i usually get delivery from. An hour later it was back towards NH. I could have drove and picked it up at FAS HQ. :mad:

I was lucky enough to attend a GG Master Class and Clinic last week in at Dublado Music in CT. The man is amazing, humble, inspiring, and hilarious. I asked him about his AxeFX and he confirmed what was said above - not much tweaking of presets and he used it only for direct recording so far.

All guitars (except acoustics) done with the Axe-FX II. Very little tweaking of factory presets. No EQ applied. Lead tone is the Solo 100, Clean stuff is fender. Edge-like stuff is AC30. JCM 800 for rhythm. Better with headphones. SoundClick artist: ZeroDrift - page with MP3 music...

Tried to update to v5.01 - Getting a "firmware update unknown" after the transfer completes. I have v2.0 or something right now. Tried to go to something prior to 5.01, but still have the same issue. I have been using axe edit. It gets through the entire download, and I get an error on the...

New Axe FX Ultra Owner question.

If you just took it out of the box and hooked it up, you need to disable the cab sims. It will sound like poo if you don't. Press global and on that page tab over to the cab sims ans turn them off.
