Input 1 gate vs using a Decimator.

I remember a post by @FractalAudio saying not to use the input gate, specifically the noise reducer plus the gate block, is this still considered "best practise"? Obviously whatever works for each person and gives them the result they want is the solution they need rather than maybe what should...

Plexi “fatcap” as found in Eddie’s amp… does the “fat” switch simulate this?

I'm sure the fat switch is located on the tone stack and shifts the mid/treble frequencies down. The fat cap on Eddie's amp is different and is a cathode bypass capacitor on v2a on a Marshall Super Lead and basically allows most of the entire frequency range through the gain stage, rather than...

  19. Liam Thompson

Why do you use a power amp with your axe fx?

I use a Matrix GT1000FX as sometimes I run my Axe FX as a traditional amp with a cab or two and sometimes that might be whether I go to FOH direct or not.

Bug? Reverb Block Low Cut Slope Not Functioning

I have just noticed the low cut slope in the reverb block is no longer working as of firmware 21.04. Changing from -6dB to -12dB has no effect on the tone or the frequency graph inside the block. This is within Axe Edit and also the front panel. Behaviour is the same when starting with a blank...

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 19.01

I've been using the USA Lead Bright model a lot lately for some upcoming gigs and noticed in the jump from firmware 19.0 to 19.1 the master volume needs to be set much higher to start maxing the headroom meter. I don't "get" the IIC+

The thing to remember about the the JP-2C is that it is "hardwired" internally as if all the pull shifts available on a IIC+ are engaged barring the bass shift. The FAT (treble shift on the real amp), plus the bright cap (pull bright on volume 1), plus the pull bright on the lead master add...

    Axe-Fx III 16.00 Beta 11 "Cygnus" Firmware - Public Beta #8

Ok, I've took a quick look at the HBE-100 models in the same firmwares (15.01, 16 Beta 4 and 16 Beta 11) as I took a look at the BE Models. This morning I dialed up the stock HBE-100 V1, then I increased the gain to around 7 and 8, which is not uncommon for this amp to be set at say 8 for BE...

This may be a long post............. Concerning the Friedman BE100 I'll admit I am, or should I say was one of the guys that was still thinking something is broke in these models in Cygnus. Thanks Cliff, that's what I thought. Fine by me I prefered the 2018 and used it as my main model as it's almost identical/much closer to my own modded Marshall running 47k off the 4 ohm tap, not sure sure what others will think losing the older models though!

Axe-Fx III 16.00 Beta 4 "Cygnus" Firmware - Public Beta

Is there any information on the "new" Friedman BE-100 models? I notice my old preset using the HBE 2018 model is now "HBE V1 FAT" and as expected sounds significantly different. Noticing the negative feedback settings on all the BE100 models in Cygnus are set 4.7, has the previous Ares 2018...

Tried USA Pre Clean with no cab.....WOW!

Try using the cab clock but try the "Totally Flat" stock IR see if that helps. You then also get the benefit all all the cab block features as well. I imagine you are hitting the output metres very hard and are clipping slightly. There are a lot more frequencies present in a cabless clean...

    Impedance curve in amp section?

I generally set the curve to match the IR I'm using at the time. I mainly play to FRFR using a York Audio Mesa 2x12 IR and a real Mesa 2x12 through a Matrix GT1000 and set the curve to the 2X12 Recto.
