    Happens to me sometimes too, but it always works out when I try again. I would suggest disconnecting any external controllers while updating (MFC, volume pedals etc), should fix it for you :)

    It's kinda hard to understand what you're asking here, but from what I gather you're connected to an amp head + cab. In that case you would generally want to have Power Amp Modeling and Cabinet Modeling disabled, but as with everything related to sound, you'll just have to let your ears guide...

    It's certainly not a waste of time, it will work great for you in that setup. That being said, there will be potential for a greater variety of sounds when using an FRFR solution and Cab IRs with the Axe.

    Ditto, got 81/89's in my PRS, sounds great through the Axe, so something's fishy with your guitar fo'sho. From your description is definitely sounds like the pups aren't getting power, so try the suggestions from previous posts :)

    Check the CPU load on your patches, you will experience crackling if this goes above 92-93%. Your patches may be fine without a USB connection because the USB connection itself contributes about 5% load on the CPU.

    Just run it in front of the Axe through the front input. You could also run it in the loop, but for stomps that increase/boost gain, this can lead to more noise.

    Yes, blocks in a preset will still consume CPU power, even if they are not engaged. There's a very good reason for why this is, if you think about it :)

    Hmm, I suspect you have a computer-related USB issue or a bad USB cable. Are you using any USB hubs between your Axe and your PC/Mac? Also, you say you get no sound from Out 1/2, is this when playing your guitar or when trying to get sound from your computer out through the Axe?

    I could be wrong, but afaik, presets aren't compatible between a standard AxeII and the XL's. Edit: Hmm, according to the Fractal website it should be. "Backward compatibility with Axe-Fx II Mark I/II presets via Axe-Edit software." Guess you gotta use Axe-Edit instead of the Bot so :)

    Might be a long shot, but some laptops have WiFi hardware that can cause heavy CPU spikes and audio lag. Try disabling your WiFi adapter and see if that helps.

    I loaded up the patches to have a look at them. There is indeed a filter block, but there are no modifiers attached to it. But, they do use cabs from the user slots, so you need to either change the cab to one of the factory cabs, or upload some IR's to the user slots, specifically slot U002 :)

    Keep in mind that using the volume pot on your guitar will darken the tone a bit as well (unless you have treble bleeds installed), which also contributes to the tone you're getting.

    I still have my Mesa Stiletto Deuce II, and I still love it, fantastic amp :) Only downside to it, like with many other tube amps, is the volume it needs to really sing. It's a ridiculously loud amp and I don't want to blow the windows out of my house :D

    I have a BK Butler Tube Driver that I run in front of my Mesa Stiletto Deuce II, it's a fantastic pedal. Toss a Carl Martin compressor in front of it with a bit of gain and you get everything from warm fuzzyness to screaming leads :)

    I use the DXR15s myself, love them. I originally intended to get the DXR12s, but my local shop didn't have them on stock and I'm impatient by nature, so I went with the 15s. True, they are a bit bassy, but that's very easy to fix with the onboard HPF which can be set to cut at 100Hz or 120Hz.
