My III sounds different day to day...?

It's not just guitars either - countless other things feed us sensory info that affects our perception of something. The feedback of the accelerator to your foot can affect how fast a car feels. The feel of a baseball bat affects how far we think we hit the ball (independent of how far we...

Best most compatible DAW for Axe-Fx/Edit 3?

I'm trying out Asio4All now. From what I can tell it allows me to have multiple devices hooked up, but not necessarily have both of them enabled in Cakewalk at the same time. Step forward, but not quite there. I may have to resort to just recording from the outs on my AFX to the otherwise...

Best most compatible DAW for Axe-Fx/Edit 3?

Thanks @Stratman68 that actually rings a bell now. How do you work around that? Do you just unplug any other soundcard before firing up Cakewalk, and have studio monitors hooked up to your Axe FX III? I'll have to give asio4all a try.

Best most compatible DAW for Axe-Fx/Edit 3?

Hey @Stratman68 would love any help you can give. Under Input Drivers and Output drivers in Sonar, the FAS ASIO drivers are all greyed out and non-selectable. Any ideas why? I'm also using an RME Fireface UFX, and that devices has all ins and outs working.

Falling In Love All Over Again

I'm neither methodical enough or verbally gifted enough for an epic review. But I will say the following - I bought my first unit, an Ultra, exactly ten years ago. I bought it primarily for the convenience of writing / recording. After owning the unit for a little while I brought it to the...

    Most Accurate FRFR Powered Cab...?

I like to think I didn't have such a glaring omission as to not test the IEMs directly wired, but after being so put off by the situation I haven't touched them in a few months now, and I think it's entirely possible I didn't rule out the wireless (Shure PSM900). I'm sure it plays a significant...

    Most Accurate FRFR Powered Cab...?

Yeah, I have loved everything about IEMs with the exception of the guitar tone. I know good guitar tone through IEMs is perfectly attainable, I just haven't found a way to attain it yet without it being at the expense of my tone through the CLRs. A little reluctant to redial all my patches to...

Does evertune bridge remove the need for a true temperament fretboard?

This is where the evertune bridge comes into play (which is why some players like the combination of the two). The evertune removes some of those nuances like fretting pressure or inadvertent bending out of the equation. I have a guitar with an evertune bridge and 90% of the time I have it...

How do you like your 64ears? Looked at those quite a bit (as well as Ultimate, Alclair, etc) but it's a little unnerving buying something for that much money that you can't try out and you can't really resell.
  22. M

Does evertune bridge remove the need for a true temperament fretboard?

Selta is spot on. You can have an evertune bridge but if your guitar isn't intonated (or tuned) properly, the evertune won't change it. It just won't allow it to bend to a different pitch without playing a different fret.

    Most Accurate FRFR Powered Cab...?

If nothing else, it's good you're thinking about it before buying. Boost for leads

I think a lot of these varying responses speak to the variety of the tones and frequency curves of what's being boosted. If a large portion of your tone lives in the same frequency range as the other players in the mix, you'll have to booster higher to be heard over them. If you target your...

Confused about what amp to use for the mk1 boogie

Princteon Rev got me the closest of any of the amps. For the saturated Mk I tone crank the input drive. The tone can be thick and drippy. I never had as much luck with Lonestar. I've heard other guys get results that sounded pretty similar but every time I try to dial it the nature of the...

It's been reported to be very stable. I've read everything I could find and haven't really seen any bugs *yet*, so it seems to be pretty safe. As RDH mentioned, Axe Edit compatibility has been rough. Also, the Recto 2 model will need to be fixed (accidentally got set with WAY too much gain)...

Axe changing preset Values on its own???

Quick test - unplug the expression pedal and see if that replicates the problem. If not, try unplugging your midi controller and see if that does it.
  59. M

Axe changing preset Values on its own???

The other thing to double check is what it's resetting to. If it's resetting to default values then a likely culprit is that you're not getting a good connection between pedal, midi board and axe fx, which could be a bad or loose cable or jack.

Little confusion over mono vs stereo tracks

Personally, I like my solos fairly centered in the mix unless I'm doing some harmonizing solo lines or if there's another active instrument (usually kick and/or snare) that I don't want to be stepping on with the solo. But generally speaking, solos are my time to step out in the mix! ;) Either...

  71. M

4 CM with a Friedman small box

It's easy enough to get the cab sim just with panning, as you don't need both left and right of either output in 4 cm. The real kicker is getting the power amp into the tone. If you're using the power amp of the small box... there's no real sim of power amp only in the axe fx.

What amp model are you using and what are your basic settings? Some amp models with certain gain settings are naturally noisy in real life, and the Axe can accurately replicate that to a fault. As a side note, that was a mighty tasty lick in the second clip. I'm excited to hear more from you.

Axe FX II audio driver keeps resetting my Focusrite Forte frm 44K to 48K

Fractal operates at 48k. If you've got your sound card set up where it's syncing with the Axe FX, this is going to happen. You should be able to set the Focusrite so it doesn't sync it's word clock from the Axe FX. Are you trying to record digital audio from the AFX?
