Ended up going with a tube loop with level controls and is switchable for serial/parallel... A few more bucks but covers the bases.

Just bought a new amp, gonna run my Ultra through the Metro loop Im having installed for effects (prolly not 4cm)... The loop can be set-up as line level or instrument level when installed, but isnt switchable. So... Does the Axe care? Which would be easiest/sound best? Which would be most...

Why is my recorded tone so bad? It's incredible thru my guitar cab.

If you don't have any interaction between speakers and your guitar it's likely to sound a bit dead... when I record I run my other output through amp/speakers... you need that vibe.

So what interfaces are you guys using?

I'm using an M-audio fast track pro... it works but it's picky as hell about what you've got loaded/running on your pc. Even with my system stripped down I still get pops/stutters in sound. Are all these interfaces picky like that?

What cable?

Just picked up an M-audio Fasttrack Pro... not sure what I need for a midi cable though to connect to my Ultra. Do I need a 7 pin? Where is an easy place to pick one up, Guitar Center maybe? I hate that place but it's convenient... Also, I take it I don't need the midi connected to record...

For what it's worth, you didn't ask for my opinion but wtf... the lead vocals are fine, he's better in a higher register, seemed to struggle in the second song on the lower notes. I think the harmonies/backup vocals are a weak spot. Maybe the bass player in the first song (hard to tell who)...

On one of the HD forums I frequent the motto is "don't feed the trolls". Think of it as if you don't want people to get your goat, then don't let em know where it is hidden. Trolls threads/comments don't get a lot of follow up because they get ignored... or the thread gets pulled WAY off...

I still haven't bothered to change over to stereo, a bit of analysis paralysis. I'm either going to swap out speakers for a couple 8ohm'rs or go with the Fractomic passives. No point in getting the powered when I've got the SLA-2... unless I hear that it doesn't sound good with the passives...

Sebastian, Are you running a cord back to a shunt in the main row back over to the reverb or straight from delay to reverb then back to main row? If you go straight then won't only the delays get reverb?

They are hot pu's for sure. But I see pu's the way I see wine, either I like or I don't. U'd have to ask someone who knows how to sniff a cork about the mids and all. I do think they can do pretty much everything. They split well and clean up with the vol knob...

Axe-Fx on the way amp cab question

Hey, I'm a Mark Day tone fan myself... a fellow gainiac ;) In his video's mark runs one Randall 2x12 cab in stereo and uses two of them in stereo for his live stuff. I believe they are loaded with seventy 80's, a pretty low cost speaker. Good luck to you! I was able to get very close to...

It's one 2x12 cab with 16 ohm speakers, doesn't that have to be 16 ohm in stereo? I don't care about separation... just want to remove any issues with stereo patches. I'm not the greatest at tweaking so I'm relying on others patches as a starting point.

In case anyone is interested, I got a reply from ART... They said 16 ohms per channel would work fine. You get 105 watts RMS per channel, I think that's a pretty big drop from 8 ohms.

Been the L6 route... tried the XTLive, sucked... thought maybe a Vetta would do the trick since it's an "amp", not much better than the POD. If the Axe even sounds reminicent of L6 gear it'll be gone fast. I thought I heard that the sum L/R deal has issues....

After alot of thought and mind changing... I ordered an Ultra this morning. I've got an sla-2 on the way and plan to run it through my Avatar 2x12. The cab is set up mono right now but I'm thinking I should split it to stereo... ok with 16ohm speakers or should I pop for a couple 8ohm'rs?

What is the FX loop being used for in Mark's patches? And the Cab, I take it he has Cabs off in the global settings but has the cab here for DI use? Don't have an Axe yet but it's pretty cool to go through this stuff with Axe-edit to get familiar with how stuff works... seems pretty...

Fractal replied to me that the units always come with the latest firmware. Of course if a new release comes out right after it ships.... you'll be a revision behind.
