Did you have any issues with "tone-suckage" using the 4CM? I've read several threads where guys said they tried it, but soon ditched it b/c the sound changed too much.

Atomic FRFR vs. standard monitors (RCF, etc)

I had read about the equal-loudness curves in the past, but my friend said he didn't experience that with powered floor wedges (???).

I have the Atomics (straight and wedge), but after talking to another Axe Ultra owner who uses standard monitors, I'm wondering. The tone/response seems to change as I bring the volume up or down. He said this wasn't the case for him....always consistent. Anyone with this type of experience...

4-cable method question

So after seeing Loudfunk's YouTube vids and skimming through the manual (and some how-to pages), correct me if I'm wrong, but in the 4CM with a single channel head can't you run the Axe as a preamp also for other sounds as well as effects? Nevermind...just found a post about it.

4-Cable method...sorta?

Trying to tame harshness when using s-coils

Thanks for the input! One problem...no tone control on a couple of my guitars, and the single coils aren't harsh on my other amps (Suhr FL, Grosh P90, and Lollar blackface through an XTC, Badger, or SD60). The PEQ did help out quite a bit, but I hadn't tried lowering the Q. I'll try that this...

Trying to tame harshness when using s-coils

Hey everyone! I just tried out one of Pete Thorn's Plexi2 settings posted on HRI, while it sounds great, when I switch to single coils (neck in particular), it get's harsh in the high end. I've dialed down the HF to around 4-5K, but it's still there. FYI...bright's off, pres on 2.00, treb on 3...

I've got the straight RS-10 and a RS-10 w/expander. I know it wouldn't be as flexible as the MFC, but like you said...simpler. Presets and IA's are what I'll be using mainly, and I'm guessing I can use the RS-10 exp ports for Vol and wah, and the ports on the Axe itself for tap tempo and...

I have a couple of questions. If you are running a single Atomic, how is you output mode set? There is a setting that matters if you are running certain stereo fx. Are you running heavy eq in your chain anywhere? Are you playing loud or soft? All of my settings are for very low studio volumes...

For me the biggest "bang for the buck" adjustments are: Cab and mic Front panel input level Amp block master volume vs gain vs how loud I'm playing OK...say I get the Marsha BE with a Marshall 4x12 green (I tend to gravitate to the sound of that one) and a SM57. Going for a VH2ish rhythm...

IEM and the Axe-Fx

Anyone here using IEM's with your Axe? What's your opinion? I'm having mixed results with mine (UE7's and AT M3), sound-wise. They're on the thin side when I use them live (FOH eq set flat), but sound fine with my Ipod or laptop. Any advice would be appreciated!

cab sim for XTC

Thanks Yek! Gave it a shot...our soundman said it was a little too "metal", not bad, just a little too modern sounding for what we do. So, I switched to a 4x12 w/25's and 57 mic sim. Automatic thumbs up from him as soon as I switched. I have been using a Palmer DI (for him) for about 6 months...

Using the Atomic FR with the Axe (treble level @ 1:00), and I can't seem to escape a lackluster low end, no matter what the patch. I've been pouring over the manual and tweeking several parameters with no luck. Anyone run across the same problem? Advice?? BTW-I have the Atomic on a Standback...

Trying to update to 9.0

Well I switched to Bome's SendSX after I could not get Midi-Ox to even download to the Axe. Next problen...I keep getting "Bad Checksum". I've tried powering the Axe down, restarting, then reloading the firmware...same result. I know I'm missing something.

Trying to update to 9.0

And...I'm a computer idiot. Using Midi-ox and a M-Audio Midisport Uno. I've got it loaded to Midi-Ox, but whenever I try to send to the Axe, I get a "no output device has been selected" message. I'm sure I'm missing one simple thing. Any help/advice?

I didn't get a LF power supply with the unit. It looks as though the manual shows that you have to hook up the phantom power supply jack on the Axe. Is that what you mean? And if so, where do you get one? Bought my Axe used, and it didn't come with one. Thanks for your help- Dday
