Name 7 guitar players you really like...

Seven is too hard, because I like quite a few more!

Kossoff
Townsend
Beck (J)
Kottke
Walsh
Sonny Sharrock
Joni Mitchell

There would be at least half a dozen Australians to add to this list (making it not 7), left out only because most Axe users have never heard of them, not because they don't rate highly enough.

Cheers,
Mo.

I love so many guitarists, choosing only 7 will be very hard... So here I will write two list, early heroes (seventies/eighties) and contemporary heroes

Early heroes :
1. Richie Blackmore
2. Michael Shenker
3. Buck Dharma (so underrated !)
4. EVH
5. Uli Jon Roth
6. SRV
7. David Gilmour

Today's heroes :
1. Andy Timmons
2. Chris Poland
3. Brett Garsed
4. Ty Thabor
5. Satch
6. Vai
7. Petrucci

leaving out Alex Lifeson, Frank Zappa, Nono (of the French band Trust), Randy Rhoads, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Allan Holdsworth, Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, Rory Gallagher, Brian Robertson, Yngwie Malmsteen, Adrian Smith, Michael Lee Firkins, Jason Becker, Michael Romeo, Devin Townsend, Scott Henderson, Shawn Lane, Blues Saraceno, Tore Otsby, Jon Finn, Carl Verheyen, Marco Sfogli, Steve Morse, Eric Johnson, Marty Friedman, Mike Keneally, Paul Gilbert, Matthias Eklundh, Robben Ford, Derek Trucks, Joe Bonamassa, Tom Quayle, Jimmy Herring, Tommy Emmanuel ... is really heartbreaking

1. Jimi Page
2. Lindsey Buckingham
3. Steve Bartek
4. Jonny Greenwood
5. The Edge

That's all I need. I am more into bands than gunslingers anyway...

-Phil

Tommy Emmanuel
Bill Nelson
Martin Barre
Neil Young
James Burton
Pete Townsend
Robbie Robertson

Alternate: :)
Steve Cropper

funny how liking something is easier to say than disliking. It's kind of the same thing? it's not more positive to like something than to dislike something, although I don't imagine someone who dislike everything as a very happy person, hehe. I dislike violence, is that a bad thing? :p I guess it's more common to share likings, enough from me :D

Shawn Lane
Allan Holdsworth
Buckethead
Brett Grased
Scott Henderson
Fredrik Thordendal
Charlie Hunter

Hard to pinpoint just 7, but I will say the following have been consistently in my fave list since I started appreciating music:
Mr. Frank Zappa
Randy Rhoads
John McLaughlin
Vai
Hendrix
Frusciante
Adam Jones

(notable mentions: Django, Cantrell, Paco, Page, White, and way too many others in my 40 years of understanding ears ;))

In no particular order:

Pat Metheny
Tommy Emmanuel
Eric Johnson
Eddie Van Halen
Jimmy Page
Steve Howe

leaving out: Alex Lifeson, David Gilmour, Jimi Hendrix, SRV, Brian May, Michael Hedges, and so many others...

wow 7 is tough
