As an experiment, I dialed in JUST the Digital Stereo chorus ten different ways.



Admissions: 1) I had some of these already in my block library 2) I used some basic delay and reverb to juice things up 3) I used modifiers on rate and/or depth in a few of these 4) Different amp and cab settings across the bunch too.

Apart from being a wizard at creating presets, you're also a beautiful guitar player. Thanks for sharing this!

I think that was in the axe fx II era, searching the word "rotary" in the release notes pdf brings up just a few fixes and an improvement in the drive algorithm on fw 16.04

True. Those were still revisions, though. And the Axe II revision was sweeping. It's hard to imagine a more realistic sound without spinning actual speakers around in an actual room. But maybe...

The Axe-Fx III has a fantastic Chorus block with a variety of models and amazing sounds.

I loaded up some chorus settings from some of the new presets for 28 right before heading out to a gig. Man these chorus models are awesome. I don’t see how they would need an overhaul.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I think the rotary block sounds great already and on par with some of the best rotary sim pedals. I just wish there were a few more models and/or some more versatility in the block (e.g. parameters to alter the number of speakers/horns and their frequency response, so to be able to simulate a Yamaha RA200, a Doppola or a Fender Vibratone)

Same here, not saying that the chorus are bad, just talking as the axe quite do it all already

Just that I don’t have that deep chorus even when I maxed it with the axe

The axe match very well the digital stuff, but the analog flanger or chorus got something special .

I have done a (very old) video presenting another chorus pedal that I own , again by electro harmonix. You cannot do that with the axe (forget maybe the beginning where it is the « double track » part of the pedal )

I'm borrowing a 1969 Marshall 50 watt "Plexi" from a friend this weekend.



Figured I'd do a quick tone match (I was lazy and used the 1/4inch out of the X-Load) with all the knobs in the same position and a few 50 watt Plexi models, starting with the 6CA7 high...


Pretty much bang on! I imagine the slight high end roll off is due to using the passive out of the load, or it could be due to pot tolerances/component tolerances.

Holy grail amp that sounds amazing and within a few minutes I had it down in the Axe. The gift that keeps on giving @FractalAudio

This has been my experience as well. While the chorus in the Axe sounds great I can get a way more intense effect from my physical analog pedal.

For the past 10 years or more, I've used very little chorus for live performances. It just wasn't called for with our repertoire. Then a month or two ago we added a keyboardist (for the first time in 40-ish years) and are now doing a lot of '80s stuff that needs chorus. It has been fun going through all the different models.

One of my buddies who plays in another popular local band has chorus in pretty much every one of his Helix patches. He overuses it, IMO. I like a chorus for effect, not as my base tone.

I havent used chorus since like 2003. I have a chorus on my metallica preset for obvious reasons, thats about it. Just not my thing. I play original music and just dont ever "hear" chorus on my stuff. That demo posted is so wet, id dial those back about 600% lol. And people are saying its not intense enough

I have never used choruses up until like a whopping 4 days ago when I tried one of @2112's scenes in the 6160 stock preset and realized how badass it can sound. Adds kind of like an 80s vibe to lead playing, or something, I dunno, I'm not a real guitarist.
