Fractal Fanatic
Given the huge backlog I wouldn't expect any boxes to arrive in Europe before 3rd quarter.
There is definitely a shortage, but the quad cortex, Kemper, line 6 are still available....it might make people reconsider.
I’m ok with waiting, but can’t my plan spare guitar gear cash spending until I get a realistic Europe delivery date. It’s the lack of communication that is the issue, even “it will be at least July” is useful news. It's a worldwide chips shortage.
Cars can't get produced because of chip shortage. Tesla developed different parallel versions of their mainboards so they could still go on with production using different chips.
Lateyly Apple stopped the production of iPads, so they have more chips left for their iPhones.
Besides chips other part supply chains are affected as well.
It's everywhere, it's not a Fractal's problem, nor G66's.
I guess nobody knows a date. They for sure hope for QI or QII, but it could get QIII or QIV as well.I’m ok with waiting, but can’t my plan spare guitar gear cash spending until I get a realistic Europe delivery date. I do not believe that the only seller in half the world is not in close contact and does not know his plans and equipment supply possibilities.I guess nobody knows a date
A few might reconsider, but when you compare Fractal (even FM3, not only the FM9) to other similar like Helix, FMs still feel like the way to go. A friend of mine is tempting me to go for the Helix, but no, thanks. There is definitely a shortage, but the quad cortex, Kemper, line 6 are still available....it might make people reconsider.
I also thoughed about that but for live purposes you'd have to pay 2700 for the FX3 plus an additional 500 for the fc6 or even 700 for the fc12 which is beyond crazy considering the expected price for the fm9 or comparable products. A fair move would be to make special offers for everyone on the fm9 wait-list and lower the prices.A few might reconsider, but when you compare Fractal (even FM3, not only the FM9) to other similar like Helix, FMs still feel like the way to go. But I have to admit, subscribing sometime in half of September for the FM9 here in Europe and seeing the information about delivery dates, I am seriously thinking about going straight for the FX III.
With this being said, you 100% hit the reason why it is not sitting on my desk (yet). And it is not like you can get the FCs used in a good condition for a better price, the used one offered are usually the very same price or just a few euros off, so nothing there as well.I also thoughed about that but for live purposes you'd have to pay 2700 for the FX3 plus an additional 500 for the fc6 or even 700 for the fc12 which is beyond crazy considering the expected price for the fm9 or comparable products.
Prices ... would be enough for me to cost as much as in the USA.A fair move would be to make special offers for everyone on the fm9 wait-list and lower the prices.
I am wondering about that too. I'm still looking for sense in this.I guess in the end it comes down to the question why announce a very desirable product while knowing you can only serve a tiny fraction of interested customers while being aware that the demand simply can't be served for a period of maybe over a year...

Now this is interesting. I expected the price in Europe to be higher since they produce those in the US (or don’t they?) and there is a duty which really kicks some prices up (been comparing some Made in US Fenders and the prices sometimes were almost about 30 to 50% both in shop or bought in the US and sent to Europe), but that does not quite explain the higher difference for the FM3 at all - I would expect these to be approximately same for all their products. For clarity:
USA (3-year warranty) - EUROPA (3-year warranty)
FXIII MKII - 2,529$ - 3103$ (+ 22.7%)
FXIII MKII TURBO - 2,730$ - 3,391$ v (+ 24.2%)
FM3 - 1109$ - 1551$ (+ 39.9%)
FM9 - 1760$ - 2300$ (+ 30.7%)
In Germany we have 19% VAT on sales. And in New Hampshire I think tax = 0.
Despite this, I do not understand the prices of FM3.
The final price of FM9 is not there yet, because it has already increased by 150 Euro from the first mention.
DSP Quad Cortex - 1,849$ - 2,068$ (+ 11.8%)
I believe that nobody expected the semiconductor shortage to be such a problem even now.I guess in the end it comes down to the question why announce a very desirable product while knowing you can only serve a tiny fraction of interested customers while being aware that the demand simply can't be served for a period of maybe over a year...
I guess there is no US electronics duty. But I'm not a specialist. Now this is interesting.
