Your Top 3 Favorite "Live" Albums. Comments optional...............

1. Exit Stage Left..........................Rush (Saw the tour, Broons Bane, right into The Trees, straight into Xanadu "LIVE" is still, for me, the pinnacle)

2. Captured..................................Journey (This Journey line up was pretty damn good and were hitting on ALL cylinders, Plus Steve & Greggs vocals were awesome to say the least)

3. You Get What You Play For......REO Speedwagon (This was pre their commercial success and a TRUE band that actually sounded better live than produced. Also Gary Richrath is a very underated guitar player)

*If this has been coverd befor just disregard*

What swass said.......

Hard to do only 3.

Allman Brothers at Fillmore East
Bill Frisell East/West also Trio from early 90s
Coltrane A Love Supreme from japan

Not yet released, but the forthcoming Tedeschi Trucks Band live CD will be awesome....my fav blues rock soul jam band of many years. Somehow I don't think Derek Trucks will be an Axe user any time soon, but he'd sound great through the Wrecker.

1) Roxy and Elsewhere - Frank Zappa and the Mothers - one of the finest guitar players you'll ever hear, the tightest band you'll ever hear.
2) Allman Brothers Fillmore East
3) Any live James Brown album - the other tightest band you'll ever hear.

#1 Live single? "I Smell Trouble" from Ike and Tina, live in Africa somewhere - I think Kenya. Ike may have been a sunnovabitch, but he was a fantastic guitar player, and the call and response between him and Tina (she sings, he reproduces her singing on guitar) is priceless!

I'm not sure I would call these my 'top three' (or, if I even have a top three), but... here are 3 that I've listened to more times than is healthy...

Queen - Live Killers
Miles Davis - Live Evil
Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii (soundtrack to the film of the same name)

Anything to pass the time while we wait for the new Axe II update: (just off the top of my hat)

Queensryche: Operation Live Crime

Yngwie Malmsteen: Live in Leningrad

Iron Maiden: Live After Death

(I'll need to give this further consideration)...

Rush: All the World's a Stage
Led Zeppelin: The Song Remains the Same
Peter Frampton: Frampton Comes Alive

Of course, I have at least four more in my top three.

Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous (I'm Still In Love With You is a favorite guitar solo of all time IMO)
J. Geils Band - Blow Your Face Out
Jimi Hendrix/Otis Redding - Live At Monterey Pop

Honorable Mentions

Deep Purple - Made In Japan
Lynyrd Skynyrd - One More From The Road
U2 - Under A Blood Red Sky
Cheap Trick Live At Budokan
Frank Zappa/Captain Beefhart - Bongo Fury (Live At The Armadillo World Headquarters)

Jimi Hendrix/Otis Redding - Live At Monterey Pop (especially the Otis Redding half...simply one of the greatest performances OF ALL TIME)
Neil Young - Live Rust
The Who - Live at Leeds

Others:

Rolling Stones - Get Yer Ya Ya's Out
Be-Bop Deluxe - Live in the Air Age
Grand Funk - Live Album
Derek & the Dominos - In Concert
Allman Bros - Live at the Fillmore East
Johnny Cash - At Folsom Prison
Roy Orbison - A Black & White Night

and so many more...
