A few weeks ago I have bought a used Mimiq pedal (for the second time, as I sold the first one after a few days of testing, it was way too phasy)
which was loaded with the last firmware. Using a dual amp/cab setup as the only guitarist in my band, I put the mimiq in the FX loop.
I have tested every single block (Cooper Carter, etc.), all the tricks and workarounds to simulate, what the mimiq pedal does. Nothing, but really nothing comes close to the tiny little pedal. All you get, is phasy, chorus-like tone, that no one needs.
One point is really important: I left one row with the amp 1 completely untouched, with Out3 I went to the input of the Mimiq and returned to INPUT3 an the row of the second amp. Of course I use different amps and cabs. But I also used grafic eq blocks to boost or cut different frequencies
in both amp rows and panned both rows hard.
As a result I got a "wall of sound", that just got phasy, when put it completely to mono. But even with a pan between 9 and 2 o' clock you get the broad "2-amp" sound live.
What I can say is, that this weekend I had the best guitar live sound that I can remember.
I have fixed the Mimiq inside the back of my rack. The settings are FX full, mono input, 1 Double and Tightness knob at 12 o'clock.
So, as a "Mimiq" Block will obviously never happen in the Axefx, I can only suggest, to grab a real one and just put it in the FX-loop, just like John Petrucci does. It works great.
BTW, I have heard, that there is some Mimiq-block in the latest Helix firmwares (the guy, who sold the Mimiq to me, is using it in his Helix , which made his pedal obsolete. Seems, that the gap between the "Big 3" modeling devices on the market is closing more and more)
The FoH-tech has recorded the soundcheck master track, If I can get it, I will post some clips later.
