New to MFC 101

Hey all,

Just bought a Axe Fx 2 and MFC 101 today. Complete noob with how the MFC works, so wondering if there is anyway that I can assign different presets to different buttons on the MFC? I use 3 different tones when I play live (Rhythm, Lead, Clean) and need to switch between them quickly so what is the best way to do this?

I've previously been using a POD HD500, which has individual buttons assigned to each patch in the set, so is there a way to do something similar?

Cheers

be sure to read the Quick Start guide to make sure your connections are correct first: http://www.fractalaudio.com/downloads/manuals/mfc-101/MFC-101-Quickstart.pdf

the Presets are already assigned to the Preset switches, which are Switches 1-5 at default. you select among 5 presets at a time and use the Bank Up/Down switches on the right to get to the next "bank" of 5 Presets.

if you want Presets in a certain order, it's best to Swap them around on the Axe-Fx itself. you can use the Swap function that's in the Store menu. IMPORTANT to use the actual SWAP page after you press the Store button once and then Page Right once. The Swap page only has 2 location numbers. Choose the 2 presets to Swap locations, and you won't lose any data. if you see a page with a Preset location and a place to edit the Preset name, that is the OVERWRITE screen (which you'd typically use to Store/Save a Preset after you make changes to it).

Watch these older videos of mine that discuss using the MFC-101 and its basics:

+1. Chris' information and videos are top notch, and will get you where you need to be on the MFC. You'll be astounded at all you can do with it.

Thanks for the help Chris, your videos were great! Still not quite working though, as my 1-5 buttons switch the scene and not the preset? I'm sure this means I have a simple setting wrong, but I have no idea where to start looking!

on the MFC, press Edit, then Switch 5 for the Setup menu, then Switch 7 to page right six times - you should end up at "BankSize." use the Inc/Dec switches on the far right to change that value to 5. press Edit to exit and save.

if it was already set to 5, then you somehow have the Reveal switch pressed. read this to find out what the Reveal switch does: http://axefxtutorials.com/2015/01/what-is-scene-mode-on-the-mfc-101-how-do-i-turn-on-scene-mode/

(note that i'm purposefully incorrectly referring to something called "Scene Mode", which doesn't actually exist. reading the article will explain it.)

Life saver, thanks so much!
