Maybe a little round XLR plug that has a FAS logo on it.It would be cool if future hardware could have a phantom-power-proof FASLink port. Not sure how feasible that would be.

That's what she said!I'm thinking a piece of tape over it with a big NO!!! On it.
@Soundtweaker Did you buys those plugs online? If yes, would be willing to post a link?
Are those rectangle connectors ground lifts for the XLR's?
I just searched XLR Plug covers and a bunch came up.@Soundtweaker Did you buys those plugs online? If yes, would be willing to post a link?
You can't block DC going into the FC's because they use that power by design. FASLink II uses a different voltage and pinout though. I believe only 1 pin in FASLink caries 12V DC to power the FC's, while Phantom power splits 48V DC on both signal pins. You could put DC blocking caps in the FC's to safeguard it, but then you'd have to always use an external 12V DC power supply to power it.
Yeah probably can't then. So maybe using standard xlr was a bad idea then since it can fry it.
Zener-diodes ?It would be cool if future hardware could have a phantom-power-proof FASLink port. Not sure how feasible that would be.
1/4” is the king of this. A 1/4” jack on something could be…Always bad to use a standard connection type
Yeah, a zener diode would work. I didn't put one in there because I never envisioned anyone being dumb enough to plug a foot controller into a mixer.Zener-diodes ?
While i agree with you on knowing what your plugging into. Examples you quoted think only one would blow something up. Power amp output into some input (apart from a speaker)..1/4” is the king of this. A 1/4” jack on something could be…
I’m sure there are more.
- High Z instrument input
- Instrument passthrough
- Unbalanced mono line level input
- Unbalanced mono line level output
- Balanced line level input
- Balanced line level output
- Stereo unbalanced input
- Stereo unbalanced output
- Microphone input
- Channel insert with send and return
- Power amplifier output
- Powered speaker input
Unfortunate things can happen but it’s best practice to actually know what you’re plugging in before you plug it in
Sounds like it might have been a FOH guy so............Yeah, a zener diode would work. I didn't put one in there because I never envisioned anyone being dumb enough to plug a foot controller into a mixer.
