Too old ipad was probably loosing data, not FracPad's fault
 
Running on iOS 12.7 and minimum according to App Store is 11.0.

But I’ll take your word on it and report back when I’ve tried it on a newer iPad.
 
I have downloaded and updated to the latest version of this app and seems to be basically working with my FM9. However it still has issues as an editor as when you make any changes to a preset layout it will poll all over again the presets, cabs and performance pages which is time consuming. Maybe there is a workaround here but have not found anything so far. To me the most usable function of the app is the perform page functions in which you can select certain parameters of a block and adjust them in the performance screen/page. For example, you can select in the reverb block the Mix level control of the reverb and it can show up on the Perform page which you can then control from there. This is a much simpler way of controlling certain parameters in a live setting without having to go to the Fractal unit itself and/or thru the block editing page in the app. The Perform page has both the per/preset and global views of the fractal unit on one screen which is very handy. The labels on the global section are a bit obscure and will need to be relabeled for easier identification etc. All in all as an editor I would almost always choose the Fractal editor for the unit you have. But for the Performance Pages that come with the FM3, FM9 and now AXe III I would definitely choose the Fracpad over trying to adjust from a rack or on the floor basic functions that could be important in a 'live' setting or performance.

Not normal behavior, something is setup wrong on your tablet or bad connection

What is normal behavior? Since you have very little to no instructions for this app, I kind of wonder. There is no bad connection and there seems nothing wrong on my tablet. The polling is an issue so what is the fix? There is not enough information for this app to understand what the actual issue could be. I use the USB connection not the bluetooth. What are the specs of your app currently to work 'normally' with an Android tablet? Do you list those specs and is so where?

The normal behavior is of course polling presets and performance only at startup
Check the options screen at top-right.
There, uncheck the polling of performance data and other things.

How are you connected to the fm9?
Which FracPad version is used?
Which fm9 version?
Also to be sure to understand the problem, can you send me a video of it occurring at my email (pm me)

Thanks for your input. I connect to the FM9 via USB cable interface. I have updated to version 3.47 and have the latest version in the FM9. Will try out some of your thoughts above and get back to you about what I find.
 
A number of possible issues:
  1. If USB is connected to FM9 and tablet and then startup app, the app will stall out at the first screen until you unplug and then replug the USB cable into the tablet. Then is will recognise the USB connection and go from there.
  2. Not understanding "uncheck the polling of performance data and other things" . Does not polling need to be checked at startup?
  3. When trying to 'Connect to' a block fracpad III starts polling Preform data and stalls out.
  4. FM9 firmware is 4.01.
  5. I have tried a number of USB cables and still the same issues.
At the moment the FracPad III is unusable to me as an editor. It does seem work ok just adjusting and adding block parameters to the Perform pages.

1. That's not the case, it works correctly here, uninstall every other app that could steal the connection or try with another tablet
2. In options screen you have polling options for performance parameters, you can disable this
3. No, this is the same problem as previously explained

Try with another tablet try with a pc or mac you'll see the problem is something on your tablet

Also be sure to disable bluetooth on your tablet if you don't connect with it to the fm9

I given up on this app as it does not work for me and have tried on multiple devices including windows machine. Maybe it works for others without crashing and polling but not on any device I have.
