FM9 Firmware Version 8.00 public beta 1

I updated as per the instructions and all of my presets are gone. The presets show in Fractal Edit but when I click on it nothing comes up (it says Empty on every preset). I can build new presets but I want my old presets. I even completed the Dyna Cab update second and the new ones don't show up. Any ideas? I can always go back to an old firmware and load a backup but I was really hoping to try the new items.

RANF.

I broke my FM9! Fixed it though.

I updated the Dyna Cabs first, it asked to reboot, so I did. It gave me a warning after boot that the Dyna Cab version was now incorrect, fine, that made sense.

I then pushed the new firmware to the device. The FM9 still had that version warning on the screen while I was sending the data. When the bot said it was finished, I rebooted the FM9. This left me with a white screen on the FM9 every time I tried to boot it.

I was able to fix this by booting while holding the two page buttons to get into recovery mode, and then sending the new firmware again.

I imagine if I'd updated the firmware first I'd have avoided this mistake.

Wasn’t it something like setting the OUT block volume to zero, and then opting to save for all presets?
It was hit Shift + Right click on an innocuous value in a common block, like Output 1 > Balance. Select <Set in Multiple Presets> and which channel and wait for them to save.

Yeah this happened to me also.

My old 2203 Low preset is completely quiet now too, I guess from the new values? I got it to freeze as well when I was flipping back and fourth from that preset, resetting it, to make sure it wasn't my hand slipping or something that was making that preset quiet.

Will my settings stay the same? Or will I need to re tweak? Thanks

Good question! Sorry, had a gig yesterday and headed out to a jam today so I haven't installed the newest beta yet. Didn't want to leave you hanging on this though so I will leave it to one of the competent veterans on this forum to answer. I might try experimenting without saving the preset to test.

Are the release notes available anywhere?

NEW FEATURES & UPDATES
  • Two new DynaCab types added, 2x12 5153 Stealth and 4x12 5153 Stealth.
  • Improved optical types in Tremolo block. Additionally, the LFO Type, Duty Cycle and Shape are now set to
the most appropriate values when selecting the Tremolo Type but may then be changed freely.
  • Added “1x12 Friedman” speaker impedance curve to the amp block.
  • Improved phase inverter modeling in Amp block. This yields more “weight” and a more open tone when
driving the virtual power amp hard (i.e. non-MV amps or MV turned up high).
Updated phase inverter parameters for many models.
  • Improved cathode follower algorithm. This results in a more open and dynamic response for models that
    use a cathode follower.
  • Updated Plexi 100W and 1959SLP models. A soft reset of the Amp block is required to load the new values.

FIXES
  • Cabinet Dyna-Cab Mic position default values updated to match Axe FX III. Double-click on mic position controls in FM9-Edit now successfully resets to default.
  • Fixed pops/clicks that could occur when changing Preamp Type in Cabinet block.
  • Fixed pops/clicks when using Stack/Hold in Plex Delay.
  • Fixed clicks and pops when adjusting the Rat Distortion drive level.
  • Layout links will now execute properly for per-preset switches that change the current preset.
  • Fixed stand-in switch Tap functions not working in some cases.

Installed the beta and new Dynacabs and got instant gratification from my USA R2 + Tucana preset,

I noticed big volume differences between scenes when switching amps for gain sounds, and between two cab channels, had to crank the IR +5-6 dB (York KW 412 U67) to match the Dynacab volume. The amp updates explain the amps volume, but not the cab differences. Anyone else notice that?

Volume tweaks aside, the 20 min of playing I got to do before going out felt and sounded great! No boot or CPU issues
