Huge update! HBE's are now in the perfect spot between sponginess/thightness - switched to HBE2010 instead of Atomica which was my main amp model for a couple of years. The Plexi Studio 20 model is like a boutique version of the original beast. Sounds classic and spitty yet delicious and tone-chiseled maybe
Thanks FAS !!

One thing I did realize, I upgraded the firmware with an older FractalBot. It only said there was a fix for VP4 but mentioned something about a beta flag. Not sure if that’s relevant.

You need to update FM3 Edit first... only the latest FM3 Edit is aware of the new firmware and all its changes ... older FM3 Edits won't understand the new stuff.

Just put in the latest FM3 Edit and then continue the process. I am sure all will be well then, and there are plenty of folks around here who will help if it is not ... 😃

my system settings and fc layout seem to have gone kaput... i have a backup and tried restoring, but it doesn't take on this new firmware. is this normal? (I can recreate manually, but would certainly save me a lot of time) :)

can't wait to try out these new presets tonight!

Did you export all layouts prior to doing the FW update? If you back up the system setting you shouldn't need to do this, however I put a heap of effort into making Custom Layouts so I've got into the habit of exporting Layouts separately as part of my FW update process.

I did not need to re-import my Layouts for FW10, but this suggestion might help.

¡Hola a todos! ¡Genial actualización! Me encantan las nuevas funciones. Lo único que noto es que mi CPU se llena con los mismos ajustes preestablecidos y configuraciones sin cambiar nada. ¿Seguirá ocurriendo esto?

"Hi everyone! Great update! I love the new features. The only thing I notice is that my CPU is filling up with the same presets and settings without changing anything. Will this continue to happen?"

Yes this is normal. Some optimization may be needed especially in the reverb and compressor area! Try lowering the dispersion in the reverb section if you use plate and what not, and try swapping for a different compressor or use economy/normal modes.

My problem was PEBCAK. My youngest swapped the cables on my external pedals which made my layouts wonky.

Everything is fine and it did copy the layouts. The restore of the settings and layouts worked as well.

Gret job, Fractal!

great update... had the CPU Maxxed - but it turned out it was just the plate reverb diffusion issue. no prob.

I'm sure this has been pointed out other times, but the DynaCabs update would not run for me until I fixed the CPU overlimit issue on my preset. Probably why it's recommended to move to an empty preset when doing updates.

Excuse my ignorance but wasn’t there an upgrade of the phase inverter algorithm? Was this also implement in this new update? I believe it was in the regular axe and the fm9. Any info would be appreciated.

There is now massive gaps in scene switching... very very audible, I'm going back to previous FW til you can sort it.

Addition. On certain of my patches when I am engaging button 3 for scene 3 it is dithering between view +1 and selecting the patch and seemingly doing the same with the -1 and Master layout . So i am getting .5 to a second of silence.

I did have the latest FM3 edit. Just trying to bring up potential issues.

How high is your CPU?

Hello, sorry for my English, I'm French. I'm using the FM3 since its beginnings, and now I use it mainly for modulation effects, delays, and reverb.
I use analog preamps because I prefer the sound and feel (IR-D and TONE KING preamps).
I just tried this beta version and my sound has changed dramatically.
It's lost some of its body, and the reverbs drown out the sound and make it muddy.
The EQ isn't the same at all... sorry, but this is the first update I don't like.
I just went back to FW9.01, and it's like night and day.
I'm getting that presence and clarity back in my sound.
Maybe the official 10.0 version will fix my problem...

Have you read all the release notes and I suggest everyone read through this whole thread to get a grasp on some of the issues and what is leading to them. The changes that Firmware 10 makes that are detailed in the release notes will give some clue why your sound is presently undesirable. If you feel like giving it another go @BROCKSTAR gives some good advise.

Try re-saving the presets in the current firmware
Is there a yellow box around the preset #?

Thanks, I'll try it again later...
As for the reverbs and delays, yes, I can tweak them to find something I like.
But I'm afraid I won't be able to recreate my current organic sound with my tube preamps.
There's something in the audio that's no longer the same...

I updated my non-turbo FM3, factory patch’s, and FM3 Edit without major issues from last full release. Some of my patches had cpu overload issues, but I found switching to another reverb and adjusting quickly fixed the issue for me and reverb’s sound as good or better than ever. New factory presets also sound really great and have lots of interesting ideas. Haven’t loaded factory presets in years, but these are worth a look. So many cool upgrades included. Loving my FM3 more than ever after update. Thanks FAS for another great update!
