Edge still using Axe Fx II

Just watched the new U2 documentary A Sort of Homecoming, which was filmed in December 2022. There’s a studio scene where Edge plays Streets for Letterman using an Axe FX II.

Anybody else surprised Edge isn’t using a III?

Not surprised at all. If it ain't broke. I don't think there's much, if any learning curve from the II to the III. I'm not a genius and I didn't have a problem.

Not surprised. While the Axe III has 'improved' effects and added new algorithms, when it comes to specific tones, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Besides, I use the II still, I think he's following my lead. Might be also that Edo hasn't released all of his presets for the III yet.

I’d imagine he has quite a few racks overall that are shipped out for various things and maybe some still have a II and wouldn’t be surprised if he might have some with a III

But only with magical firmware that cliff never released publicly. Fw24 beta 69 that was leaked on some discord by someone in the beta team, but then quickly deleted.

Ask Josh Scott from JHS pedals to do some appealing mention of the Axe-FX II classic TigerSHARC DSPs in a video about The Edge tone, and the price of these vintage units may skyrocket very fast
