Carr Troubles

LVC

Fractal Fanatic
I started with all controls at Noon (bright off -- amp does not have a bright channel - not sure why default has bright on) and it sounded "challenged" with a flabby distortion (real amp does not break up at noon with humbuckers - not even close)

I set it up like I set up my Carr (works same for humbucker and tele)

Volume 11 (mine is loud at 11)
Treble 1
Middle 10-11
Bass 10

and it just does not similar.

Have not tested going through the Carr cab yet.... but I can't get it to even sound close.

Not saying I can't dial it in to make it sound good -- nor am I saying the Sim does not sound good ..... it just does not sound like a Carr Rambler.

Besides the Twin, and the Carol Ann OD2R, this my all time favorite amp and I happen to have one sitting right next to the AF2 --- :mrgreen

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

And yes I even turned the input trim down. :lol

Have to say -- the reverb in the Axe sounds soo much better!

This is the setting I use with both my 336 and my Suhr Antique Korina tele with humbuckers - it sounds freaking awesome -- plenty loud - and plenty of headroom. I can take it up to six and it gets really loud with no breakup (super dynamic)

Past six with humbuckers you start to get a really nice creamy OD tone.

The Rambler has a fixed bright cap therefore the Bright Switch should be on. The actual amp has no numbers on the faceplate so I have no idea how you can set a control to "11".

This amp has not been MIMIC'd yet. This has been made clear several times. Regardless we compared the actual amp to the model today and everyone thought they were very close and actually preferred the model.

Once my knee feels well enough to lug the amp into the lab we will MIMIC it and correct any errors in the model. In the meantime I suggest you enjoy the hundreds of other fine amp models available.

I figured it would be hard to tell -- I posted a picture so you can see my settings.. Basically I am using the dial of a clock for reference.

Okay. As I said the model is preliminary. The calibration of the tone controls may be completely off.

I don't get paid any extra to get beaten up by forum members if a BETA model isn't perfect. I've barely been able to walk for the past week because I have tendinitis in my knee. The last thing I want to be doing is lugging a heavy tube amp into the lab.

sorry to hear about your knee troubles -- I had my 6th knee surgery in Sept. Just brought myself another 2-3 years (most likely less) before I have to go bionic.

regarding the other amps -- I am happier than a pig shit (no issues there) -- I had waited until after my NYE gig before updating to the new FW -and was looking forward to trying out the Carr..

It would be great (... or not because of the placebo effect) to have a note on the wiki that tells us which amps have been MIMIC'd and which haven't.

It is really my bad ...should have read the beta thread more carefully. An asterisk next to the amp in the release notes would help as well. It will at least keep knuckleheads like me from jumping the shark!

I got Achilles Tendonitis in my right ankle when I was 21, it sucked , felt like someone was slicing my tendon with a steak knife every time I stood or took a step and lasted for nearly 3 months before fully healed. Even then I was told it never really fully heals. I feel for ya Cliff. :(

I haven't read every single post either. At the moment, there are 737 posts in that thread. I'm pretty sure not everyone who's using the BETA 5 have read all of them ;).

when your knees go it sucks big time ... I blew mine out in college playing ball. 36 years and 6 surgeries later, I do not go through a day without being pain. When I travel by air (even for business and regardless of the weather) I wear slippers.

It sucks big time!

LVC, i just setup a Carr with the boogafunk EV using your settings and it sounds great with a super tele. Left the bright switch on and had to add the low cut switch.

This amp hasn't been MIMICed because it's part of a beta firmware release. Just a matter of time.
As one of the few who maintains/updates the wiki, I'm not planning on documenting the state of the various betas in the wiki.
Alternative approach would be not adding anything to the wiki until the firmware code is gold.

I set the AXFX2 Carr up by ear and it sounds great. One of the best clean tones I've heard yet from any amp. I guess if you own the real thing it must be hard to ignore what your preconceptions are going to be. Thanks Cliff for a wonderful set of tools and hope your knee gets better soon. I look forward to hearing LVC's thoughts once the Mimic is right. Getting the right IR Os important too. I'm using the deluxe verb mix and 1x12 Blue mix in a stereo cab. Sounds great. Takes OD really well for a creamy lead sound.
