Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 16.02

I'm also not totally convinced the drive block is the right move. I tried to stimulate it using the Tube Driver pedals, but I didn't really get a perfect match.

Hi all !

Apologies for posting here but the FM3 forum is getting swamped in temp/fan/noise related issues currently .... so if I may please ask here ....... for the Axe 3 16.02 and FM3 B3, are the following Tweed Deluxe and Bassman stock NFB Settings correct ?

006 - 59 Bassguy => Stock NFB 2.90
007 - 59 Bassguy Jumped => Stock NFB 2.90
008 - 65 Bassguy Bass => Stock NFB 10.00
009 - 65 Bassguy Normal => Stock NFB 10.00
093 - Deluxe Tweed => Stock NFB 0.00
094 - Deluxe Tweed Jumped => Stock NFB 0.00

Much appreciated and thanks,
Ben

I'm in big trouble!
I can not decide!
Power Amp Modeling Off - Cabinet Modeling Active
I am using this Setup situation!
But this is not life-like!
Because there is no such thing in reality!
However, when I turn on the Power Amp Modeling On position I get a very different sound, Which is ugly to my ears!
So my question is!
Which position is best for use?
Power Amp Modeling Off ?! or Power Amp Modeling On ?!
This feature has just reached my mind!
What is the generally accepted type of use?
Or which is the recommended type of use!
You may have had such an issue!
But the way I asked the question, I don’t get a clear answer!
Sorry for my ignorance!
Thank you for your answers!

Try turning the master volume down.

I've never turned the Power Amp Modeling Off since I had the Axe-FX Standard, back in 2006. I always play FRFR, of course, That is why I use a modeler

Hey there,

I play with the poweramp modeling off..
With my guitar it sound better to my ears through FRFR and headphones. With the "poweramp on" the sound is crispy. Maby it is because of the active preamp build in the guitar. I havnt figgured out if the crispy sound is coming from another setting. I just noticed one day that turning off the Poweramp sounded better to me.

Addition!
I have no problem with sounds!
I don't have a problem with the volume either!
I use FRFR.
Power Amp Modeling Off! - this is a nonsense state!
Sounds good!
It sounds nice! - in this position!
What's more important! - Cabinet Modeling Active!
Based on this, it is mostly nonsense!
It's not logical!
Or should I not look for logic in it?

Dont overthink it. Like the way it sounds? Run it that way.

Here's your clear answer:

When using FRFR (like studio monitors, or neutral amp with FR monitor, or headphones), keep the defaults:
Power Amp Modeling: on
Cab Modeling: on

It really makes no sense to turn them off. Also, turning them off would cause all kinds of issues which, TBH, you're not up to.

Exactly. Even if you like some sounds with the Power Amp OFF, it is a pity to keep such a powerful amp modeler deactivated.. Give it a chance!

@Jozsef Kiss

Try power amp modeling on, but try using very low values for master volume, depth, presence, and hi-cut.

Another approach, set those knobs at higher values to gain the character you like, then fine tune with output eq in the amp block.

Best of luck in your adventure!

I have to say that with this new incredible firmware (and a few other experiences I had in the last weeks) I think I finally came to the conclusion to sell all my tube amps and related stuff (Peavey 5150II, PRS Archon, Two Notes load boxes, custom amp racks and switchers ...) and just use the Axe FXIII and maybe add a FM3.
Sometimes you have be reasonable and let go ...

Yes to all, I've checked that on the AFX III FW 16.02. Now, if those happen to vary on the FM3 you should remember it's still on Beta phase, but as far as the Axe FX goes, those are the correct stock values.

Edit: Just checked on the FM3 FW Beta 4.00 Build 3, and those are the stock values as well.

He is asking if they are correct, not if they are the stock settings...

Only Cliff can answer that ;)
