I've never have been satisfied with the Hiwatts. I find them quite sterile. I believe that these beasts are designed to make you deaf on the stage, not to bring juice. That is why some people needs to add Alembic Preamps and other extravagances to make the Hiwatts juicyThe Wrecker has both juice and balls.
I have reamped an old recording for this
c'mon I know what you say... Mine it's a comment/joke/happiness manifestation for this upgrade! They looks they're made for Gilmour fansWe basically already have the alembic pre, just select one of the various fender amps with the same preamp/tonestack and turn power amp off.
What we really miss is a way to couple it with the hiwatt power amp, i.e. this: https://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/gilmour-pulse-amp-model.150488/
Ok. Phew. It’s not just me then.I've never have been satisfied with the Hiwatts. I find them quite sterile.

I feel so relieved to hear this. I thought I was missing something never liking the models. I usually assume it's a me problem.Real ones are sterile. They're more like Hi-Fi amps than guitar amps.

Early 70s bassman 100 sounds pretty similar to the hiwatt DRs if Johan Segeborns video is anything to go by.I feel so relieved to hear this. I thought I was missing something never liking the models. I usually assume it's a me problem.
The Ampeg VT-22 was like that too.Real ones are sterile. They're more like Hi-Fi amps than guitar amps.
Yeah, that's why they're really excellent pedal platforms, you really hear a pedal's voice thru them.Real ones are sterile. They're more like Hi-Fi amps than guitar amps.
